I'm not going to bother reading this topic.

I don't know much about Reagan's domestic policy, but I do know he helped kill lots of innocent South and Central Americans. In the 1980s version of the "war on terror".

Suppose that goes part in parcel of being a U.S. president. So I suppose on a scale he wasn't that bad.

Rather difficult to compare capitalism with something that has never existed. No country has ever been communist in anything but name. For true communism to arrive, it must be international, not restricted to one nation. And it can only arrive once the contradictions of capitalism have reached a point where the entire system is no longer sustainable. And capitalism is a long long way from reaching that point.

But again, the 'ideal' of communism is just like the 'ideal' of laissez faire capitalim - a utopian dream. I don't see the point of being in favour of either of them. Thats why it cracks me up when people here call me a leftist. I am neither a socialist nor a communist, simply a critic, and it is a sad state of affairs when being critical of power is considered leftist.

No. Reagan was incredibly popular. He won 49 out of 50 states in 1984. If Bush Jr. gets re-elected, it will be by a very small margin. Reagan was a lot more popular than Bush Jr.

Every Presidential death is a big deal, but Reagan was loved a lot more than Bush is, and he was more respected as well.

The problem is that neither ideal will work do the the variable of human nature. The only way for the either pure form of communism or laissez faire capitalism would be if every person thought exactly the same. They would have to have the same sets of morals and core beliefs. The fact is that in history no group or civalization has had that. There has always been atleast one person with a different idea on how things should work. It is not the point that neither of them would work it is the fact that neither could work in a situation with independently thinking beings. The problem I have with someone supporting communism is why would you support something that always tend to fall into the hands of cruel rulers that do not tend to help in general?

Libertarians don't believe that we shouldn't have roads or policeman. Libertarians believe in less tax, not no tax.

Libertarians believe that people should have control of what they do. Your average Libertarian probably is pro-choice, believes gays should be allowed to get married, is against any type of censorship, and is against raising taxes.

I'm not 100% Libertarian, but I agree more with them than I agree with Republicans or Democrats. If I could vote in this upcoming election, I would not vote for Bush or Kerry, but I would vote for Libertarian candidate Gary Nolan.

I watched some tribute show on Ronnie and boy was it smacks of bias! the things he did that were bad than good were highlighted as good things. It showed him making no mistakes as president.

First of all, I never said anything about government being completely out of everyones life. Government has a role to play, but a very limited one.

Second, who cares what the Free Republic laws state. None of us here are posting on them or trying to get people to go post on them. So it makes no difference what the rules are.

The worst of all the websites though is democratic underground.com. What a class act that website is.
