Different political issues? lmao YET AGAIN. A war is hardly a minor affair. Nationalism, patriotism, whatever, all are expressions of the collectivity. If you call yourself a libertarian, then I can no longer take seriously your posts on the war or immigration. It is not about following the 'party' (how on earth libertarians can even bear the thought of a collectivity anyway I don't know), don't forget you have 'self-labelled' yourself as libertarian. Not me. And being for the war in Iraq, yet still calling yourself a libertarian, well you may as well start a business paying minimum wage and call yourself a socialist.

People don't vote Libertarian because of the party's beliefs on the war in Iraq. People vote Libertarian because they believe that the government should have less involvement in their lives, both economically and socially. Just because Elder votes Libertarian doesn't mean that he agrees with all of their platforms. There may not be a party that has exactly the same beliefs as Elder, and he thinks that the Libertarian party is the best fit for him. I consider myself to be an Independent and if I could vote in this election, I would vote for Gary Nolan, a Libertarian. I don't agree 100% with his platform, but I agree with him more than I agree with Bush or Kerry, both of whom I dislike.

zulaid Russia has had a historical hatred of Jews. In the 1700's they purged the jews in Russia, in the 1800's they did the same. Pogroms or something like that.
In the Balkans they also have purged jews in the past. And Muslims (That is why Albania fights with the former Yugoslav republics)
I am involved in the Labor movement in Australia (ALP) and i believe that workers need to be given decent hours, better pay and protect what rights the workers already have. I don't want a communist state but i support government ownership of some utilities as they are the only ones to get it right (gas & power).
I read the history books but i like Tito's policies and they way he ran Yugoslavia.

You are right. The russians in general have always hated the Jews. Up until this day actually. Ever heard of the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion" book that was written about Jewish world domination? That was a Russian work if I am not mistaken... a book that was completely fabricated at all levels and debunked by the British.
That book is now used in the Arab world as a way to incite hatred for the Jews.. it was also used by the Nazis.
About government ownership. Government should OWN nothing when it comes to business. Especially power and gas. If you control both of those you control the people. I know there have been some energy problems in this country, but that has mainly been due to government interference. Well, also some crooked businessmen taking advantage of a situation. But I am a firm believer in the market setting prices because of demand.

And how exactly is it negative to point out that both communism and capitalism are flawed? Sounds pretty balanced to me. Just because I don't attach a label to myself doesn't mean you have to get upset. And anyway, I couldn't care less whether you take what I write seriously, consdiering the number of factual inaccuracies I have had to correct you on. It is one thing make broad general statements because of ones political stance (France not operating in Ivory Coast with a UN resolution, Elder?) and quite another to have the facts straight.
I actually have nothing against what you wrote about communism and capitalism being flawed. Both are extremes and don't work. So on that we agree.
What I disagree with you on is the fact that you don't think I can support a political party that I may have disagreements with. Thank goodness I live in a country where I can disagree with my political leaders and still support most of their agenda.
I may make mistatements from time to time, but if they are pointed out to me I have no problem admitting I was wrong. Accuracy. Which is why I support organisations that call ALL countries up on their misdemeanours. Whether it is the US, China, France, Israel, Cuba, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, whatever. I don't see the point in being an adherent to ANY political philosophy or economic system. Libertarianism, communism, socialism, liberalism, whatever. I look at issues, and wrt Iraq, it is clear and obvious it is one big mess, and the people responsible should be held to account for their actions. Dick Cheney should be the first. Raving on Monday that Saddam and Bin Laden had links, only for the official 9/11 inquiry to undermine him today. What a moron. How a man like that can be VP is ludicrous.

I agree that those responsible should be brought to account as well. I'd like to see Bush and Blair in front of the war crimes tribunal, although the US administration would never sign for anything that puts everyone on a level playing field.

What if the market leaders get together and start fixing the price? Everyone needs electric and water, etc, so those companies could charge whatever they want and either get it or severely disadvantage the people.
What about healthcare then? Should that not be free and available to all. How are you going to do that if it's a matter of supply and demand?

As for government ownership: I think of say every 10 phone companies: the government should own 1 company. the same should go for other utilities, at least 1 company.Price fixing is already illegal, so that shouldn't be an issue. Making laws that benefit the "people" regarding business isn't the problem I have, it's just government owning business that is. Historically, anytime government gets involved, the price goes up.
Regarding health care... I don't believe health care is a "right" of the people to have. I think that some health care should be provided for people. Where I have a problem is people who dont' take care of themselves (smokers, drinkers, people who eat themselves to death) then expect the government to pay for them to get better. If there is going to be health care for all, then maybe there should be criteria you have to meet to receive it.
