Fergie being in charge doesn't mean that he can treat the players and the fans however he likes.

Non the less here is what I've heard

Ruud appearently left OT because he was named a sub for todays game and had a row with Neville.

Man utd play crap one-dimensional football when RVN plays, fact is he's out of form right now and SAF was looking to the future by playing Rossi.
and anyway in term of stature at Old Trafford : G.Neville>RVN anyday

Ferguson is the manager of the team and he can treat the team however the fcuk he wants because its his head on the chopping board when the results aren't going their way, not the players. Simply if RVN isn't playing to level Ferguson expects, then he should be trying alternatives, just because RVN has scored goals in the past doesn't mean he will continue to do so, especially if he's going to be playing like he has lately

Sir Alex unhappy with Van Nistelrooy's committment

Sir Alex Ferguson has sensationally accused Ruud van Nistelrooy of trying to undermine team spirit at Manchester United.

It is thought he was told he would only be on the bench for the game, with Ferguson instead preferring 19-year-old Giuseppe Rossi as Louis Saha's strike partner.

Van Nistelrooy's reaction seemed certain to signal the end of his prolific five-year stint at Old Trafford and any pretence the 29-year-old's future could be salvaged appears to have been swept away completely by Ferguson's damning assessment.

'There have been a couple of incidents in training this week which have concerned me about team spirit,' revealed Ferguson.

'This was such an important game for us, I just wanted everyone together so I felt Ruud should be left out of the team.

'Sometimes in management, you have to make tough decisions like that. It was for the benefit of Manchester United

'I do not need to say anything else about it at the moment. I will discuss it with the directors tomorrow and Tuesday.'

If past history is any guide, there will not be too much to discuss.

Ferguson places team spirit among the highest on his list of priorities and there has been plenty of evidence from Van Nistelrooy's body language over the past three months to suggest he is not buying into the collective ethic.

And, while the list of players who have fallen foul of Ferguson's ruthless steak is extensive, including as it does Jim Leighton, Paul Ince, Jaap Stam and David Beckham, those who have lived to tell the tale are non-existent.

Only on Friday, Van Nistelrooy was talking about his commitment to playing in Roy Keane's testimonial on Tuesday.

Instead, his next competitive game seems likely to be in Holland's forthcoming friendly against Cameroon on May 27 with this summer's World Cup the shop window from which he will hope to gain a move which will salvage his career.

Van Nistelrooy's hasty exit completely overshadowed another handsome Old Trafford win for United over Charlton, a result which booked the Red Devils' place in next season's Champions League group phase.

'We really needed this result,' said Ferguson. 'Getting into the Champions League directly is so important to us.'

It was Saha, the man Ferguson named ahead of Van Nistelrooy for the Carling Cup final win over Wigan in February to start the renewed storm over the Dutchman's future, who started the rout, nodding home a Ryan Giggs first-half corner.

By the interval, United were three up thanks to a Cristiano Ronaldo effort and Jason Euell's own goal.

Kieran Richardson added another just before the hour mark to send the hosts into the summer in optimistic mood, with Paul Scholes and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer both making welcome substitute appearances.

It was a sad way for Alan Curbishley to end his 15 years at Charlton and left him wishing Ferguson had presented him with a couple of return tickets to New Zealand a bit earlier.

'Halfway though the first half, I wish I could have gone a bit further than New Zealand,' smiled Curbishley, whose sister lives in the country.

'Sir Alex also gave me a special bottle of red. He should make it two for the four points we took off Liverpool.'

Curbishley also paid tribute to Ferguson, who is about to enter his 20th year at Old Trafford, a length of service even the departing Charlton boss cannot match.

'Whenever I speak to Sir Alex he always talks about the enthusiasm he has for the job,' said Curbishley.

'He still has a couple of challenges on his mind. He wants to build another great side.

'I think Chelsea's dominance over the last couple of years has spurred him into action.'

Meanwhile, Curbishley revealed he had taken striker Darren Bent off at half-time purely as a precaution ahead of the World Cup.

'We were losing 3-0 so I didn't see the point in jeopardising the lad's chances of being fully fit for the World Cup,' he said. 'At least he can say he will be (fit) now.'

whoever says SAF can't do what he wants is a glory chasing fool, no one is bigger than Manchester United not evcen Ruud, Sir Alex doesn't care who he upsets he does things for the best of the team, he has stated himself he was not happy with some players attitudes in training this week towards each other and dropped Ruud for the good of the team,

anyone remember Becks?, once you think you are bigger than the team you are gone you cannot be unporofessional and walk out on your team-mates its pathetic.

Sir Alex Ferguson is the manager he makes the decisons he decides who plays he decides where they play if you dont like it you don't play i'm sorry if any player believes they can walk out before a game they dont deserve to wear the shirt Alex Ferguson has one more trophies than any muppet and is the most successful manager of the last decade (in a meaningful league) he knows what he's doing

who ever insulted Sir Alex Ferguson on here and pretends to class themselevs as a Manchester United Fan can bugger off

Ruud  One of my favourite players in my time. Good luck to wherever he goes (if he goes). Hope he's not benched in the team he joins though. Always sad when a legend's leaving :(

Personally I think that Rossi was much more useful in that Charlton game than Ruud in the last games he's played. He started the season brightly but his form has drastically dropped. Time to move on. Maybe he'll be better in La Liga where the football is not physical.

As sad as it will be to see RVN go, I must admit that I am optimistic for the future of the club with Rooney, Rossi, Saha, Smith, and Ole as striking options. Our play is generally stale with Ruud in the team, we have trouble breaking down defenses with him there. On the other hand, Saha/Rossi/Rooney are excellent at doing this. We just play better without him, and Manchester United is a team. Ruud is and will always be one of our greatest goalscorers, but as much as I love him, he was simply unprofessional to storm out like that. He kept Saha out of the side for much of the year, but Saha never stormed out.

He will once United will begin to underperform and once there will be a good enough manager to replace Fergie. But for now, i will take him over anybody.

Don't get me wrong, but if Ruud can't take it being dropped that's his problem, he was told that his spot in Dutch squad is safe and the last thing i want is for United to become Real Madrid and be run by a group of arrogant players, instead of 1 manager.

Ever since that exclusion from the carling cup final Ruud was affected...his form went down his confidence became low.

Hope he leaves...thats the best thing for him. He certainly doesnt deserve this...why wasnt he not named in the 16 only god knows

Again, Ruud was named in the 16, but no 11, so he left.

personally i think some of you make a mistake by saying Ruud thinks he's bigger than the club. I can assure you he doens't. Ruud doesn't deserves this treatment. He has done some great things for the club, just like sir Alex ferguson did.

he has scored tons of goals for united since he came, and rejected many million dollar extra to play with Cheslea, Real Madrid or Barcelona...
Sure he played crap the last weeks for united, but the way sir Alex Ferguson is treating him is kind of familiar like with Stam, Beckham, Yorke and so many others...
First there a 'unknown' incident, Ferguson gets pissed and puts the players on the bench 'temporarely', till theyget their old form back and he waits and waits..

and waits... and in the meanwhile treating him unrespectfull for such player and he just waits till the player reacts pissed (like yesterday, he drove away before a game) .

Now Ferguson gets what he wants the whole time since he put Ruud on the bench. They cannot work together anymore and Ruud leaves the club for a huge amount of money (I wouldn't be surprised if Glazer was behind this too)

Ferguson gets rid of everybody he dislike.

* First of all i think Ruud should leave the club soon.it's better i think.

* Second I think Sir Alex Ferguson should quit at United too... he has done so much for the club, but there's also a time to go.
United has to move on also, new coach, a totally new face.
United doesn't play that good anymore like in the end '99, 2000 , 2001 where the playstyle was famous from manchester.

* Third I thinks it's up to Keane to say if ruud is invited to his last game, and not Ferguson

of course we know... but I haven't forgot Beckham and Stam... it was almost the same. There's something goin on, because , he is training with the dutch squad this week, first it wasn't planned but van Basten said on dutch tv there was an incident so he could train sooner with the dutch squad
