I've witnessed it numerous times. And yes, bad weather does play into effect most of the time, but flare smoke doesn't help matters either.

Flares, when used properly make such a beautiful ambiance to a football game, it is almost an art. You telling me you wouldn't like seeing these displays at matches? Just look at some of these attached. We wouldn't want to have boring crowds like in the EPL where everyone is wearing the same brown coloured coat.

If you did you would have seen that Shevchenko headbutted Materazzi in front of the linesman and received no punishment, both Cambiasso & Adriano were fouled in the box with no call, finally when Inter score a flawless goal and the ref takes it away. I understand that throwing flares isnt the right move but I can def see why they did it...and do you actually think they were aiming for Dida? The amount accuracy needed to do that is uncanny. But it did hit him and I believe they were punished hard enough. Banning them for a season though, come on! It is so easy to say stuff when your team is not the one at fault.

It DID happen to Ajax. In 1989, an Ajax fan hit the Austria Wien goalkeeper with an iron bar. UEFA handed Ajax a two-year ban. Ajax appealed and UEFA changed it to a one year ban + a 3-0 defeat. Ajax moved from De Meer to the Olympic stadium and renovated De Meer.

The whole point of my argument wasn't to say that UEFA's punishment was unfair. I thoguht it fulfilled it's purpose. My argument was against those calling for an even worse punshment such as banning Inter from Europe or the even more idiotic comment of banning the club forever. That was my argument, capeesh.
