Eh, I don't think Fabregas would work in that position, especially if he was the only one in the middle, just because someone idolizes someone doesn't mean that they can play like them. Cesc would be a good distributer of the ball back there, but I don't think he could tackle or keep up with some other CM's. I still think we need a proper DM, and maybe to buy we need to sell first, but there are a few players we could certainly afford to lose imo; Eboue, Senderos, and maybe even Toure (sorry king Kolo fans).

I see your point there about Fabregas, and to be honest I did not give that formation enough analysis before posting it (it was late at night and the idea just hit me).
Anyway according to various sources we've submitted a bid worth €17.3m to Madrid for Huntelaar. If this is true or if we are interested in him, we will most likely get him, since Spurs just got Crouch and Milan will be able to get Džeko with his new release clause. I think Huntelaar will be okay with Wenger sibce v.Persie told Arsenal.com he is open to a new striker, still we already have Bendtner (rapidly improving),Eduardo,RVP and Vela our Mexican Superstar/Gold Cup winner.

Today's pre-season 5-0 win vs. Szombathelyi was mixed. Bendtner was our best player scoring twice (his technique has improved greately), Dudu also had a brace and RVP scored a pen. The defence though was shaky: poor marking etc.

Maybe if you're at Arsenal but not if you're at ManU and definitely not Chelsea. ManU are very successful and already afford insane wages, and same goes for Chelsea. Tevez didn't go to City because of the wages, and I doubt anyone else will. But Arsenal are the most likely to lose their CL spot, so going to City is actually a sound choice for guys like Toure and Adebayor.

If City get into the CL and Arsenal don't, Fabregas is going to Barca.

City got some good signings but that doesn't mean they'll snatch the 4th spot from Arsenal. You can have a CL team, but the most important thing is for them to gel together. Arsenal got a manager with experience in competing in the top 4 as well whereas Man City doesn't.

If Arsenal get a couple of signings and their players stay fit, they could still compete in the big 4. I still think Arsenal has got a class team, and the youngsters will come this season with one more year of experience.

Looking at our summer spending patterns from the last few seasons Wenger generally has a net spending around 0 each summer. With our transfers so far we've made 31mill (Vermaelen-10, Ade+25, Toure+16). That leads me to believe that Wenger will spend at least some of the money we've just made, and this is being extremely ambitious but if we were to have a net spending of 0 that'd mean he'd spend 30mill. How about Huntelaar in for 17, Hangeland in for 14, and we could sell Eboue for 10mill and get a DM. Again that's extremely ambitious, but seeing all the money we've made so far I don't see why not.

And specifically about us selling Toure to City, let's be honest the Toure Gallas partnership was never great, and Toure's form has dipped a bit. And I'm not really worried about City knocking us out of the top 4 yet simply because Arsene Wenger has the edge over Mark Hughes in so many ways.

Toure did ask for a transfer request in January his excuse was his "bad relationship" with Gallas (don't forget he named Gallas as one of his best friends on Arsenal TV). Money was a definitely factor as Jonathan Barnett (friend of the husband of the singer who was cheated on from Girls Aloud) is his agent.
Also ever since the 2008 ACN Kolo got malaria and has never been the same player. Wenger would have noticed this and cashed in now plus in January City offered 14m now they offered 16. Should we have a priority signing I'd rather it be a DM, replacing Ade is not an immediate need, v.Persie,Arshavin, the ever improving Bendtner (whose replica I'm considering) are good enough to start. We already have Håvard Nordtveit out on loan so CB might not be needed either.
I'm not scared about going to the UCL I'm scared about not winning anything .
