Boateng partnership has been a trouble area for Bayern for years. Many options have been tried, and now we're going with his World Cup winning partner who is a homegrown Bayern player.

What you're basically saying is that he's worse than Benatia or Kimmich/Martinez at CB, and I don't think that's a valid position for someone who plays a "normal" system rather than some unorthodox Pep system.

I also think it looks bad, but all 3 of these Bayern purchases have had validity beyond trying to weaken Dortmund. Gotze was the first purchase, so the trend hadn't started, and he was meant as Pep's German alternative to Neymar. Whoops, but that was the theory at the time. Lewandowski was fucking free. Bayern has been trying to get Hummels back pretty much since he got sold by Klinsmann for 5m and then got fired 3 months later for being incompetent.

Yeah but there's always the option to try and find someone else. Any idea how much the hummels fee was?

Are you fucking serious? Hummels has won multiple league titles, cup titles, and is a World Champion. How can you compare him to any of those fools? You'd really rather have John Fucking Stones, who can't even get in the team at Everton?

Hummels and Boateng are both top 5 CBs in the world right now, and they have a good partnership already from the German National Team. It's one of the best purchases Bayern have made recently and they've made almost all good ones.

I agree Hummels was that good two or three years ago, but he has really gone off the boil and just isn't a dominant player anymore

I actually think he reached his peak this season. Tuchel's game model building from the back fits him too, he is awesome at that.
