Is there a special reason the Canadians have a bunch of players with Dutch-sounding names? I noticed this with both this squad and your U-20s.

I think their parents are Dutch. Most of the kids on the team were born in Canada but they play abroad. Like Ramalho and De Jong play in Holland.

And what's up with Frank Yallop and his A-League bias. Why doesn't he call him his strongest side so they can learn to play with each other?

And if Jaime Peters is going to be called up then they should've called up David Edgar.

@ Rhino, with Hirschfeld and Onstad off roster, Sutton will be starting.

@ Shinji, Occean was one of the top scorers in Europe this season (for his Norwegian club) and he's something we've never had in our side, a target man. Considering much of our desperation attack of late has been lobbing it up the strikers, its good to have someone of his stature over peschisolido or De Rosario. Im guessing Radzinski NT career is over, thats a shame (N).

This is Iain Hume's tourney though.

Didn't know that about Occean, his goal count that is... he just strikes me as one of those old-fashioned type strikers that have little to no technical ability and need to be fed the perfect ball in order to score. Anyhow, I suppose with de Rosario and Hume creating the plays, he could be somewhat useful in the box. It's true that his physical presence is a good thing, especially against the central american teams that tend to be smaller on average

Some areas of Canada have really high populations of Dutch & Belgian descendants. Where I live there's an especially high number of Dutch ex-pats (London, Ontario area), many immigrated to work in the Tobacco growing industy around here, and other types of agriculture.

What makes you think that there are German immigrants coming to North America. No German or Swede or Swiss or Norweigen or Dutch, etc from west Europe would want to come to North America unless they had little choice. I live in a pretty multicultural city but I haven't met a single German and the only west Europeans here are really just Italians. Although there are a lot of East Europeans.

We can grow quicker in our football scene since our country is less ignorant when it comes to sports then the US so if they put sports like soccer, rugby, and cricket on TV, I'm sure that there'd be large growth. People here don't care about watching MLS. They want to watch European and South American football. Unfortunately though, Rogers Sportsnet is the only channel in English that broadcasts regular football and is on cable to Canadians. Maybe the Canadian Soccer Association should try getting club soccer from good leagues other then the Premiership on TV for people to watch.

I love the show Sportsworld on The Score, it's good to watch the news from sports like football, cricket, and rugby.

Obviously the Dutch and Belgian descendants I was talking about didn't arrive yesterday to pick apples for nickels.. I thought it was common knowledge that these were 2nd and 3rd generation farmers. I don't know why you mentioned Germans, but you ever been to Kitchener-Waterloo? Anyway, no western Europeans really immigrate to Canada anymore, even Portuguese, Italians, and Greeks don't immigrate anymore. Southern Europe is a lot more prosperous now than it used to be...
