haha mascot, that's great. We beat Charleston 1-0! I'm a photographer, I get to go to all Rochester Sporting events for free. ie: Rochester Rhinos, Rattlers (outdoor lacrosse), Knighthawks(indoor lacrosse), and Amerks (Hockey). I don't get paid besides that. I can go wherever I want in the stadium. You can see me taking photos in this video when we beat Toronto!! I'm at the top of the screen when they are celebrating. Greg Howes scored the goal in less than 10 minutes inot in career with Rochester.

:funny: at davidcfs for being the mascot. You came over to me an my friends yesterday, and we were very tempted to push you down the stairs :D (C)

I thought it was a women underneath that. At the season opener I saw a little kid punch you in the balls (Y). That job must suck having little kids always grabbing at you. Did you shake Stalteri's hand with that dirty lynx suit on? If so, did he look for the exits when you approached? ;)

How pathetic are the 'cheerleaders' though. Annoying as ****, and nobody even acknowledges them. Theyre like 11 years old, and ugly. Just a huge waste of time.

Haha yah you nailed the staletri situation perfectly, though dick howard and even craig forest have come to me and thanked me for doing such a tough job.

No pushing down the stairs please it hurts, and at the home opener dont get me started I was drinking so much redbull I doubt I was even paying attention. The home opener was hell 1 game in that suit is tiring try 2 on my first day.

As for the cheerleaders blah, what the hell is there to say some of them are very very young but then again so are some of our lady lynx players. I don't mind them all that much they take some pressure off me.

theyre embarassing themselves and the club. Seriously ruins the game, theyre that distracting. Its a soccer match, what are they doing there anyways? You're on 'the inside', do something about it. While youre at it, get the 'DJ' guy to stop playing music during the match, again, its a soccer game.

I just realized, how friggin hot are you in that suit? its been disgusting weather for the past month, you must be dying

The problem is we are very oriented to kids, something I plan on changing. I think we need to try out some guys who play in the spanish leagues (if you live in toronto you know what I am talking about) and try to make more exciting and physical soccer. Not to mention the owners seem to forget we have this huge hispanic community that is being untapped in the soccer market.

And yes. Its very hot in that suit, I am skinny enough as it is but I have actually been told I look like I have lost more weight :P

Wow. Do you really have that much influence on the Lynx? Maybe you can sign me up as a youth coach(though I have no qualifications, I think I can do a better job than those other coaches who yell at kids and crush their spirits) or maybe even as a player to bring in the Chinese market.

Lol, firstly to even be considered you need to get your coaching license. And if you want to play tell me where you play currently and some info so I can atleast check your game before I even bother talking to anyone because I dont want to seem like an idiot who just brings in people with no skill. Like I said I am just a mascot but next year hopefully I can be of great help to the club.

You need a coaching license to coach little kids? Damn.

I wasn't really serious about the last post as I only play soccer with my friends.

But I am really interested in coaching as I'm just sick of seeing all these coaches who make kids do stupid drills and yelling at them if they don't do it right. It's like bootcamp the way these coaches handle practices. I guess that's one reason why Canada sucks in soccer.

Yeah I got all 3 licences (40+ hours of classes) and im set to start next year.
Like 90% of the guys I took the courses with were pretty much the same type that you just described.

But there are many who actually know what they are doing (like my senior instructor was like a coach in 2nd division EPL....and WOW.....he was a fantastic guy (great motivator)

hey anyone got the schedule for the upcoming Gold Cup?
Canada plays Costa Rica first on the ...uh....4th I think
then USA 7th but forgot when we face Cuba.

We could qualify but Costa Rica might be the big problem for us.

The rhinos is the same way, we got cheerleaders, I actually know two of them, but I knew them way before they were cheerleaders like since they were like 13. They even got their own section on the rhinos website. I know Martha and Sadie they are actually sisters, but they have no pics up yet, and we have a music problem too, they actually have like radio ads during the game its so annying, some of us serious fans are trying to protest it, and like at Toronto it's more the family atmosphere, they have all the kids come on the field at the beginning of the game and make 2 lines and as the players are introduced they go between them and slap their hands then they have little kids playing at half time.

I tried taking the coaching course but it was reserved for Kinesiology students. It just sucks how there are so many garbage coaches out there who basically yell at kids and teach them that winning is important. These kids should be developing skills and being creative and having fun. No wonder our youth team lack ball skills.

There are a lot of English people involved in football in Canada (like James Sharman from Sportsworld-great show). If they could use those people instead of the North American 30-50 year old soccer coach, then it'd help out. The problem with the North American coaches is that they think that doing a few drills a couple of times will help out when it's just a waste of time.

Actually no. I'd rather have French, Italian and Dutch coaches than an English coach.

It's too bad Joe Nieuwendyk's cousin is coaching at Ajax. It would be nice if he would be the technical director of the CSA. He could introduce the Ajax way of coaching young players throughout the country. Maybe the CSA should spend big on Paul Le Guen.

Joe Niewendyk the hockey player?

Well, the problem is our countries geography. The areas with a lot of diversity like Toronto and Vancouver aren't near each other.

I really admire the Aussie's though. In Australia, they also don't have the best weather and they have geographical problems too. All the main cities are located along the coast and none are in the middle since that's where the outback desert is so you can't just drive from one big city to the next. But in Australia, people like sports (unlike here where people would rather watch reality TV then sports) and they're population is less then ours but they're awesome at Rugby, Cricket, Field hockey (crappy sport-ice hockey's better) and they're pretty good at soccer. If the Aussie's had a good defence-they'd easily qualify for the World Cup. They've done all this with a population smaller then ours so we should learn from them.

Edit: Forgot to mention that they're good at Aussie Rules Football.

Yeah the hockey player. I forget what his name is but I know he is one of the coaches for Ajax.

It has to do with population density. We barely use up the massive land we have in Canada so we are really spread apart. This is a huge reason why we can't have a Canadian league.

And the Aussies have a winning mentality that us Canadians don't have. We are content with our athletes just giving their best effort instead of actually winning. If you look at the US and Australia, they spend a lot of money in sports development while in Canada they barely spend any money at all. It's just the way it is right now. I just wish that we could have a killer instinct when it comes to sports. I bet we could produce a lot of athletes if they actually believe that they could make a living out of sports.

yeah, that's exactly it. The Aussies are very sports minded and competetive. They're championship contenders in just about any sport they enter. In addition to the sports you guys mentioned, they've also produced several legends in tennis, and even revolutionized the doubles game. The only sport we have a winning mentality in is Ice Hockey, and that's because we're good at it. I think the single biggest thing that would help increase the popularity of soccer in Canada is success. If we were to make it to the WC, create a few upsets, the interest would grow. Soccer was pretty much nothing in the US until they hosted WC'94 and started winning games.

That's exactly what I mean bigp. The same with New Zealand-they only have 5 million people and they're good at rugby, cricket, and pretty decent at soccer. They're good at individual sports too. We gotta get that "try your hardest and have fun" mentality out of the way. That's a good mentality for kids and kids shouldn't be pressured, but it's just that kids like my age (15) don't play sports any more. None of my friends play hockey or soccer or cricket or lacrosse or even basketball now. And if I asked them to play rugby, tennis, or badminton then they'd laugh.
