Just watching the United highlights...... the disallowed Wigan goal shouldnt have been disallowed, Evans should have had a second yellow card, United should have had a penalty for the Figueroa handball.

Honestly this last few days (since the weekend) have demonstrated some of the worst refereeing I have ever seen in the Premier League. Shocking.

The goal came from a corner that shouldn't have been given too. :nape:

Oh, come now, Lalas is the worst analyst in world football (only slightly worse than Wynalda), but the rest of the ESPN team was pretty good. Macca and Klinsmann did fine jobs.

Macmamamananamamanan is awful if it wasn't for Ian Darke I'll probably watch all those ESPN2 games on mute. I detest Lalas purely because he was so awful I was happy when Ghana won just to see the tears on his face.

Can't be worse than Craig Foster...

Could it be that the Referee decided that he should disallowing it realising he'd given a bad decision?

I do think that sometimes referees make one bad decision and know it and then try and make up for it by making another bad decision and get caught into a vicious circle..... it does seem that in most games the decisions are either all good or all bad.........but they have been all bad in pretty much every game for the last six days.

"I know the No. 9 shirt is a huge thing in Newcastle - a monumental honour for me," Cisse told the Sun. "Alan Shearer has set the bar very high and I must try to follow the path that he's set. I need to be aware of the past and what the shirt means.

"I'm doing all I can to be worthy. Alan Shearer is the example I have to try and follow. I am not trying to prove I am as good as him - but to live up to what the shirt means. The only way I can do that is by scoring goals and so far it's gone better than I imagined."
You're doing it right, Papiss!

Well that didn't take long. Mancini might be a good motivator, but if you give him too many egos he won't control them. Manager needs to standby his words. So if you are a good player, you can do whatever and still be a starter.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is ready to throw controversial striker Mario Balotelli into the potential title decider against Manchester United.

The Italian forward's season had seemingly been ended last Sunday by his red card against Arsenal and a separate expected retrospective punishment for a challenge on Alex Song.

Mancini had said Balotelli was 'finished' ahead of a possible nine-match ban and admitted he would 'probably' sell the 21-year-old he bought for £24milllion in 2010.

But the Football Association did not act on the challenge on Song and so Balotelli is only suspended for three games, one of which he served in Wednesday's win over West Brom.

The former Inter Milan man will also sit out the fixtures against Norwich and Wolves, but would then be eligible for the meeting with United at Etihad Stadium on 30th April.

Pleased

And so Mancini has backtracked, as he said: "I thought Mario would be banned for six or seven games, that's why I said he wouldn't play again this season.

"He only got three games, so I'm pleased for this. He will be back for Manchester United. He will be ready."

City's win over West Brom combined with defending champions United's shock defeat by Wigan means the gap at the top of the Premier League is now just five points.

Mancini has maintained City's title race is over, but they could move to within two points of United, for 24 hours at least, if they win on Saturday at Norwich.

United then on Sunday host Aston Villa at Old Trafford in what will be a crucial game for Sir Alex Ferguson's men in the wake of the loss at Wigan.

I think he must see a little bit of himself in Balotelli, because there's no other way to explain the preferential treatment he gets that is pissing off the other players. If Mancini won't get rid of Balotelli, then Mansour needs to get rid of both of them.

For me, Mancini sees himself as a father figure for Balotelli. I get where Mancini's coming from though, he can see that Balotelli has the ability to be one of the greatest players in the world, however, trying to control him isn't going to work. If you want Balotelli; you're going to have to deal with all the bans, curfew breaks and grass allergies he can throw at you.

I think Mancini is also being partly nationalist, he wants Balotelli to succeed for the good of his country

I think he is scared ****less, clueless and out of options. A father disciplines his son accordingly, Mancini says one thing and then does the opposite because on paper that's the better option.

Well also, as has been demonstrated before he is prone to saying things in the heat of the moment and also is not a man of solid principle regarding sticking to his word - which in a football manager is not necessarily a bad thing!

If City would have stuck with Tevez in the starting 11, and all that drama surrounding him wouldn't have happened.. they would have been champions already. The guy is amazing, and today he's proving it.

Beating Norwich at Carrow Road this season is not easy and City are making it look like a breeze..... they are well and truly back on form and if they keep this result, there will be real pressure on United to beat Villa on Monday who will be no pushovers. I still think we may get our season decider on April 30th!
