Expansion for 2005 is going to be either:

Los Angeles Chivas and Seattle Sounders/Salt Lake City Mormons/Philadelphia/Houston

-OR-

Los Angeles Chivas

I have heard that they have considered expansion to Toronto, but it won't happen anytime soon and I doubt it will ever happen. I think I read that FIFA would be against the MLS expanding to another country.

I would not be against having a team in Toronto if they have a stadium, but I don't see it ever happening.

It might be like the Switzerland-Lichtenstein situation. Where all 7 of Lichtenstein's teams play in the Swiss league because there is no Lichtenstein league.

Does Canada have a league? The A-league is an american league with Canadian teams in it, those are all the Canadian teams i know.

The Welsh teams in the English league can't play in UEFA comps, so it might end up like that for Canadian teams (obviously insert CONCACAF comps) if they already have a league

But Mexico already expanded into MLS... Chivas! (H)

The Chivas team that will be introduced next season could possibly play in San Diego, Phoenix, San Antonio, or Houston from what I've heard. A location hasn't been decided yet.

haha, Salt Lake City Mormons :D (H)

They narrowed it down to LA or Chicago a couple of months ago. The latest reports have been that it will almost certainly be Los Angeles.

I don't really like the decision. Look at how good the Galaxy have done this year. 22,500+ attendance (3,500 more than DC Adu Hype United) at the Home Depot Center. Now you make them share their stadium and their fanbase with Chivas. I think many Galaxy fans will not like that and the last thing MLS needs to do is alienate it's largest fanbase.

On the other hand it means Chivas games will be played on a soccer-specific stadium and Chivas - Galaxy could quickly become the biggest rivalry in MLS.
