Well for one thing he's 6 foot 4 and 200 pounds. He did not play in MLS. Actually I don't think most people knew who he was before ManU signed him. Apparently he scored 8 goals in 20 games for the ManU reserves (and he went the full 90 in only 3 of those games).

It will be very interesting to see how things go down for the Quakes. I personally would like them to stay in San Jose and Club America make up a new team in 2006 and be an expansion team.

Something needs to be done with the Earthquakes. They get horrible crowds. They either need a new stadium in the Bay Area or they need to be moved. The league can't just keep them at Spartan Stadium where no one shows up. Besides the fact that no one shows up to games there, the stadium is a piece of **** anyway. It needs to be torn down.

i am seeing an ethnic divide starting to open in the MLS.

happened in the NSL with Croatian, Serb, Greek, Macedonian, Dutch, German, Italian, Maltese, Scot, Welsh and English teams. So much friction between the many sides that competed in the national league (42) in the 27 years of the league (1977-2004) and that is what ruined the league. Averaging crowds of UNDER 10K led to the death of the league. Chivas need to target fans outside of the mexican audience that they are mainly aiming for.

In Australia the ASA have shut down the NSL and are now forming the Australian Premier League in the mould of the EPL, MLS & JLeague best qualities.

It's not quite the same situation. The USA has a Mexican population of over 20 million. How many Macedonians in Australia?

err 90% of Australia's population are from europe.
i can't remember the exact stats from the census but there is a huge greek, macedonian, english & italian population. Ethnic biased teams means friction. I mean what happens if LA fans make fun of Chivas fans? how will they do that? With racial slurs which will probably create english style riots.

Look i know there is a huge mexican population but think about the tension that the 2 countries have ecountered over history. Hardly a friendly one at that.

But i hope the expansion works well though.

No, it doesn't have to do with the rumored relocation of the Quakes. They were just paying tribute to the original San Jose Earthquakes, from the NASL days. Now, only if the Revs had a similar night where they honored the Tea Men!
