hahaha :D

BTW, Shifty, Soriano/Wells & Bonderman for Tex and Penny? HA!

I don't see what's wrong with that trade, Penny started in the All Star Game, and Tex is going to have a monster second half, while Soriano's production will tail off. Wells was probably a little too much though, especially considering you're a Jays fan.

I really would have liked to add an Outfielder for an infielder, so I could get Bill Hall into the everyday lineup along with Lugo, and get Jenkins off the team, but oh well. Sheets looks fantastic through four innings, that curveball is incredible.

I have way too many outfielders, but honestly. Penny's been crap since the all-star break while Bonderman's won like 6 straight decisions. and how are you so sure Soriano's gonna drop while Tex is gonna explode in the 2nd half? and if that IS going to happen, why do you wanna swap them?

Wow, we brought in both Greg Maddux and Julio Lugo. The Maddux deal doesn't surprise me all that much since it had been rumored for a while now but the acquisition of Lugo came out of nowhere. I don't like the fact that we gave up Joel Guzman but hopefully this deal turns out for the best for us.

hmmm.....that Lugo deal sure doesn't bode well for Kent, does it? Is his injury more serious than the Dodgers are letting us on? Anyway, why stock up the Ray's farm more with an elite prospect and a moderately decent one for Lugo alone? Seems a bit steep to me, man.

BTW, the Brewers/Rangers and Phillies/Yanks trades should be checked for collusion........those ******* deals weren't kosher, man. Very ShiftyPowers/Deisler and Rony/Deisler-esque.

It could be either Kent or Nomar who's more hurt than we know and considering that Nomar's injury is a sprained knee ligament, he could be out for a while with his recent history. Yeah, giving up Guzman for a player who's a free agent after this season who won't in all likelihood stay on is a very hefty price, especially if Guzman turns out to be the player he's expected to become.

Manu, if possible, bro. I implore you to veto the Chacon/Wilson trade that the Yankees and Pirates made a couple days back..........I can't believe that I'm the only one who's coming out vocally against that deal.......

The New York Yankees and politicians broke ground Wednesday on a billion-dollar stadium project across the street from The House That Ruth Built. Yankee fans will remember August 16 as the anniversary of Babe Ruth's death 58 years ago. The project would be constructed on 22 acres of public parkland north of the team's East 161st Street home. The current stadium will be torn down and turned into amateur ball fields. The new Yankee Stadium will seat fewer than the current stadium, but it will have 60 luxury suites, including three outdoor suites and eight party suites. It will have many restaurants, larger concourses and entertainment areas. The field dimensions will stay the same, and Monument Park will be transferred to the new park (OBVIOUSLY). It will have the tall cathedral windows, auxiliary outfield scoreboards, a right-field Yankees bullpen and a frieze on the roof, which is commonly known as the façade and was a feature of the original stadium. A hotel, convention center and $45 million Yankee Stadium Metro-North Station are also in the plans. Four new parking garages will be built, creating approximately 10,000 vehicle spaces. The construction project will cost US $1.2 billion. The Yankees (Steinbrenner) will be paying $800 million. That means that the public will have to ship over $400 million in infrastructure costs.

The new Yankee Stadium will open in 2009, replacing the third-oldest stadium in the Major Leagues, trailing Boston's Fenway Park (1912) and Chicago's Wrigley Field (1914). Located at East 161st Street and River Avenue in The Bronx, it originally opened on April 18, 1923. The Yankees beat the Red Sox that day. The club moved from its old home, The Polo Grounds (mainly remembered for Bobby Thomson’s “Shot Heard ‘Round the World”, in 1951, to lead the Newy York Giants to victory over the rival Brooklyn Dodgers).

Yankee Stadium has stood for 83 years. It was renovated in the mid 1970’s, resulting in the Yankees playing at Shea Stadium – home of their cross-town rivals, the New York Mets (IMAGINE THAT!). The stadium has hosted 37 World Series games. It also hosted the NFL’s 1956 championship game (Giants over the Bears). Knute Rockne’s famous speech, where he told his team to “win one for the Gipper”, took place in a Yankee Stadium locker room. Infact, many famous Notre Dame-Army games were played at Yankee Stadium. Mass was celebrated, by Pope John Paul II, at the Stadium. Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano and Muhammad Ali fought at the Stadium. It was also the site of two dates of U2's ZOO TV tour in 1992. It has drawn atleast 3 million fans every season, for the past 8 years. It is one of the main attractions in the city along with the Empire State building and the Statue of Liberty.

Yeah, they are to offset the loss of the parks by building new parkland including three ball fields at the site of the current stadium. The area's resurgence had meant only higher rents and other costs of living. A new stadium is unlikely to help. There were a few demonstrations but police kept them at a far enough distance to prevent them from being heard by the participants.

Oh and the authors of that book that came out this spring, about how Barry Bonds had lied under oath(I think?), might end up in jail if they don't reveal their sources. I don't know why this is coming up now but anyways, to journalists, you would have to figure that your *sources* are everyhing and you shouldn't give them out under any conditions. Prison time though, may be too much for them.....

Hinske, Vells, Halladay were supposed to be the future back in 2002...can't see any of them being around at the end of next season. Should've traded Hinske to a NON DIVISION RIVAL!

what do you mean not around next season? I doubt we'd let them go, and I doubt they would want to leave (Wells and Doc that is)...

and someone tell me who we even got for Hinske? :| and Schoenweis? :|
