In a league using Rotisserie scoring, fantasy teams are ranked from first to last in each of several statistical categories. Each fantasy team receives points in each category based on how they rank in the league. Each team's category points are totaled to determined their overall rotisserie score.

The maximum number of points that a team can earn is equal to the number of scoring categories within a league multiplied by the number of teams in the league. Similarly, the lowest number of points that a team can earn is equal to the number of scoring categories multiplied by one, which is the lowest score that can be achieved in any category.

If you are in a 12-team league, the team with the most home runs will receive 12 points, the team with the second most will receive 11 points, etc. In the case of a tie, each team involved receives an average of the total points due -- i.e., in the above example, if two teams were tied for first in homers, each would receive 11.5 points [(12 + 11) / 2 = 11.5].

So, if you were playing in a league with 12 teams and 12 scoring categories, the lowest point total possible is 12 [12 * 1 = 12] and the highest is 144 [12 * 12 = 144].

Rotisserie standings reflect cumulative season stats and not any single-day accumulation of stats. Your rotisserie total may rise or fall from day-to-day depending on how your rank in each category was impacted by the addition of stats from the most recently completed day.
That's how rotisserie works, according to Yahoo. Either one is good with me so its up to those who are involved to choose.

Several scoring categories are taken away when the point system is used instead of head-to-head so its rotisserie instead.

but I don't know too much about baseball... haven't followed it much (actually I rarely watch baseball) ... it's only coz the jays seem interesting this year again
my draft will probably depend on the yahoo rankings or big names I've heard

You should look around for some fantasy mock drafts to get a general idea of who to draft and there's a "Big Board" with players ranked on the Yahoo Fantasy Sports page you should check out too.

we got demolished 9-1 by Mexico, and after being 2-0 and favourites to go through, we get knocked out :(

As for Bonds, despite the fact that the players union probably WILL challenge any suspension, Selig could save face by trying to suspend him..atleast people won' t say that he just sat around and did nothing.

You can' t be eliminated from a tournament with a 2-1 record...that rule will be changed for 2009. The Cubans ended with a 2-1 record and moved on to the next stage but we'd beat them 6 out of 10 times..if Puerto Rico hasn' t already exposed them, then the second round will prove that they're so overrated. It just comes down to the pool you're in....in tournaments you need the luck of the draw.

Besides, we had......no Rich Harden, no Gagne, no Ryan Dempster and no Russel Martin(catcher, who was told by his manager that he had chance to crack Dodgers lineup). Those players are more valuable to us than any other missing players would be to their respective teams. The Mexicans had most, if not all, of their big arms. Jeff Francis, Adam Loewen(who shut out US over nearly 5 innings) and Eric Bedard will be back and much stronger in 2009.

Sadly, as far as 2006 goes, all we've done is woken up Clemens&family.

Yep, he has a chance of making the roster as backup to Navarro but if not, he'll start at AAA Las Vegas if I'm not mistaken.

Mexico v Korea tomorrow night, should be good but the games tomorrow are in doubt with the storm we're having here in SoCal. Hail was falling earlier today and they say it'll probably continue raining into tomorrow.

The simply outdueled us, Rodrigo got worn down real quick and his one mistake cost us. We had a couple of good chances late on but nothing came of it.

Selig to investigate Bonds

Baseball will reportedly investigate the steroids controversy swirling around Barry Bonds.

The New York Daily News reported Thursday that commissioner Bud Selig has already decided to begin an investigation, according to an unidentified baseball official.

The newspaper said Selig is expected to announce the decision next week but hadn't yet decided if the investigation would be done by Major League Baseball officials or outside investigators.

Rich Levin, a spokesman for Selig, said the commissioner had not made any decision.

A suspension, however, is not likely in the near term, two league sources told ESPN's Pedro Gomez. The league has no grounds for discipline, the sources said, although that could change if the government indicts Bonds on perjury or tax evasion charges.

Two books that are being released this spring accuse Bonds of using steroids, human growth hormone and insulin for at least five seasons beginning in 1998. Baseball did not ban performance-enhancing substances until after the 2002 season, and Bonds has denied ever knowingly using performance-enhancing drugs.

Bonds said Thursday that neither he nor his representatives has heard from the commissioner's office about whether baseball would launch an investigation into his alleged steroid use.

Selig also faces pressure from Congress. On Wednesday, Rep. Cliff Stearns, who previously sponsored legislation calling for tougher drug testing in pro sports, sent the commissioner a letter asking about his role in policing steroid use from 1998 to 2002.

"As commissioner, you have the essential responsibility to safeguard the integrity of the game and to ensure that cheaters have no place in professional baseball," Stearns said in the letter.

Specifically, the Florida Republican asked Selig for information about a 2004 meeting with Bonds, baseball's policy for addressing alleged steroid use if a player doesn't fail a drug test and what Selig's authority is to investigate alleged steroid use.

Under pressure from Congress before last season, the players' association agreed to toughen drug testing rules and penalties.

Bonds broke Mark McGwire's single-season home run record in 2001 and is approaching Babe Ruth's career total.

Now it's just a question of whether his surgically repaired right knee is ready for the daily rigors of playing in the field.

Bonds, in the lineup on back-to-back days for the first time this spring, homered for the second straight day and made a brief appearance in left field in the Giants' 10-6 victory Wednesday over the Brewers.

Despite being hounded by allegations of steroid use and slowed by his knee, Bonds is in midseason form at the plate. He is 7-for-9 with three home runs and a double in four games.

He played in left for the second time this spring, leaving after his homer in the bottom of the second inning.

Bonds said he has not been asked by U.S. manager Buck Martinez to join the United States team at the World Baseball Classic.

Bonds, who is on the provisional U.S. roster, pulled out of the Classic in January, saying he wanted to focus on getting ready for the season. But with injuries to Johnny Damon and Derrek Lee, there's a chance Martinez might ask Bonds to play if the U.S. advanced to the semifinals.

Bonds has 708 home runs in his career, seven shy of passing Ruth and 48 away from breaking Hank Aaron's career record of 755.

Selig would not publicly commit to an investigation last week.
