Today we play our first official match after the EURO fiasco. The most important thing is that we've got a new captain which is Michał Żewłakow. Personally, I think is the right decision; his international experience and football skills prove that he deserves it.

I'm curious how two new guys on the block will present; Marcin Kowalczyk from Dynamo Moscow and Piotr Polczak from Cracovia. Kowalczyk was knocking to the NT's door lately and his chance has finally come. Tomasz Zahorski was called up to replace Łukasz Piszczek because of injury.


Any thoughts about the Ukraine game?

Everything's fine but a few call ups seem to be a joke, the call ups such as: Jop and pole wannabe; both of them lacks good shape.

Matusiak throws in the towel at 26

Polish international forward Radosław Matusiak has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 26, with his father Janusz saying: "My son will now become a businessman."

Troubled period
Matusiak has made his decision having been through a difficult spell since leaving Ekstraklasa club GKS Bełchatów for US Città di Palermo in 2007. He failed to settle in Italy and then endured an unsuccessful stint at SC Heerenveen in the Netherlands, resulting in a loan move to Wisła Kraków last season. He was also omitted from the Poland squad for UEFA EURO 2008™ despite having scored seven goals in 15 games for his country, shining under coach Leo Beenhakker. Janusz Matusiak added: "He will make no comment because he is angry with the journalists who have criticised him. He should be respected for what he achieved for the country."

It was a disaster, crapball etc. The only one that played football yesterday was Błaszczykowski. The other "players" were too slow, too fat to play against Slovenia.

San Marino 0:2 Poland

Goals: Smolarek and Robert Lewandowski


There was no difference between us and guys from San Marino, unfortunately. In 3rd minute they had a penalty but Fabiański saved it. The only good thing is that Robert Lewandowski scored again in his debut.
