Portuguese Superliga side Beira Mar has reportedly offered Mick Wadsworth a managerial position for next season.

Their current manager, Antonio Sousa, has announced that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season meaning that the position will be vacant this summer.

Wadsworth is an experienced coach who has worked under Sir Bobby Robson with the English national team and Newcastle. He has managed The Democratic Republic Of Congo and Huddersfield Town and had a brief spell as the assistant manager of Southampton.

The Portuguese media are reporting that Wadsworth may be keen on managing the 11th placed side. Beira Mar's squad consists of many foreign players and Wadsworth's international experience and strong ties with South America are just some of the reasons the club is pursuing him.

From the qualifications, it seems he would be a great manager for us. (Wouldn't mind Quieroz when he gets sacked by Madrid though) :p

Well, first of all, I want to congratulate Porto on the championship victory. They were clearly the better team and fully deserved the title, eventhough it was a campaign far from the brilliancy of last year's title.

Now, about the other CL place, there's everything to play for. The defeat by Sporting was a great result for Benfica. If we manage to win the derby, we'll probably ensure that spot, and if we win by 3 goals (which I don't see happening), it's definitely ours.

That game (along with the Taça final) is our game of the season. I hope that, contrarily to what happened in recent times, we don't fail in those decisive moments. Benfica must play with full determination and concentration! If we do so, we have every condition to win, if we don't, then we won't be able to do it...

So, two decisive games for us (against Sporting and the final against Porto), precisely against our two rivals, to still achieve very good things this season.

About the Valentim case, I got something to add: did anyone see that new SIC reporter guy that was outside Gondomar's court of law? Man, he absolutely ROCKS! (H)

Here's one example:

SIC's Jornal da Noite:

[Reporter] There's a woman here that wants to talk. She said she's been here all day supporting Valentim Loureiro.

[approaches woman...]

[Reporter] Hi. When did you arrive?

[Mid-30's woman] Right this morning.

[Reporter] Do you do some work?

[Mid-30's woman] No, I'm unemployed.

[Reporter] Thank you very much.

[ends interview]

First, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to our Portista friends, for winning the 2003/2004 SuperLiga title. Your lads clearly deserved it, and Mourinho (I know I shouldn't be saying this) definitely is one of the best managers in the world right now. Now, go on and beat Depor, and win the Champions League not just for Porto, but for all of Portugal.

However, please give us the cup. WE NEED THE TROPHY, DAMMIT!

Haha to thoses Sporting forum fans who said that it was be a miracle for SLB to be tied up with Sporting in pointsbefore the derby.

I also have a question is SLB in 2nd ahead of Sporting on goal differencial?

I'd wish the Porto fans a congrats on the title, but I already did when they beat us at the Antas 2-0 back last September.

nope, cause in the direct meeting sporting won 3-1 in the first round, but if we win 3-0 next week we automaticly clinch the cl spot.

If we tie in Alvalade, Sporting will have to lose points in the last match for we to reach the 2nd place?

with a tie sporting will maintain the 2nd place because will have the advantage of benfica-sporting matches. So they have to lose points in Guimaraes.

Possible scenarios:

Sporting wins: Assures the 2nd spot because even if Benfica reach them again in the last week, SCP will have advantage--- SCP 73 points SLB 70

A tie: The teams remains tied now with 71 points but Sporting will have advantage

Benfica wins: Benfica pass Sporting but remains a game to play. So SLB must gain at least 1 point against Leiria -- SLB 73 SCP 70

Benfica wins 0-3 or 2-4 Benfica assures the 2nd spot because will have advantage for Sporting -- SLB 73 SCP 70

No, all that was said is that the Benfiquistas are counting points before they gain them, and it's already the case again.

I'm sorry, but there's no way Sporting will lose by a 3 goal margin, the teams are way too balanced.
