I'm pretty sure that things would be different if we had someone like Mourinho in charge of the NT.

Now that Porto team is destroyed (i mean that midfield of last year that dominated the Champs league and the Euro 2004), let's just see what Scolari can do with a team on his own.
Now he really has to instruct players on his own and not rely on what they do on their teams.
I think you all understand my point here...

I liked Humberto Coelho very much, he did a great job and put us playing the best football I ever seen from a portuguese team even if we lost in the semis to France. If you compare the french and the portuguese teams of 2000 in terms of player quality you see they had a much better team than us especially in the defence. Even so that game was one of the closest and best games I've ever saw in terms of footballing quality.
That's why I'd like Humberto Coelho back to the NT

Humberto Coelho is a very mediocre coach. The reason why we played so well in the Euro 2000 had few to do with him and a lot to do with our players, our "golden generation" that was at their top back then and was highly routined in playing together.
I think Humberto Coelho's career as a coach speaks for itself, both before and after coaching the Portuguese NT. Before, he only coached small teams and with no success. After, he coached 2 (I think) NT's, Morocco and Korea, and he totally failed with both...
Don't know how anyone can compare a coach like him (or most of the Portuguese ones) to Scolari... Scolari is a man with loads and loads of experience and trophies, mostly with teams that hadn't many stars but rather relied on their combativity and team play. While I know it's true that it is quite different training the Portuguese NT or a Brazilian club or NT, it seems ridiculous doubting of his competence, even more after the great job that he did in Euro 2004.
And while it's also true that Mourinho had also a part in our success in Euro 2004 because of Porto's midifield routine (but it's also hilarious saying that the tactics and instructions were only Mourinho's, cause I don't think Miguel, Jorge Andrade, Figo, Ronaldo or Pauleta/Nuno Gomes were from Porto and I also don't remember Porto playing with wingers...), I don't think he had anything at all to do with recent games like the one against Russia... Or did he?
