PEREZ VOWS TO KEEP MORIENTES
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez insists that striker Fernando Morientes is not for sale.
Perez reiterated a statement issued earlier this week by the club that claimed they would not countenance the sale of their forward amid reports that Liverpool would be interested in acquiring his services.
"He (Morientes) is a first-team player and he has an ongoing contract and there is nothing new to add," Perez told Telemadrid Radio.
"The sporting arm of the club is not thinking of releasing him and there are a lot of games and it is a long season and we need everyone."
Morientes has found himself slipping down the Real Madrid pecking order behind Ronaldo, Raul and Michael Owen.

Remon Looking For Grand Performance Against Valencia
Real Madrid coach Mariano Garcia Remon has called for a grand performance against Valencia in order to create a drastic switch for the postive to their currently lacklustre season.
“We need a triumph. One can’t create expectations without victories. It will be like a final for us. We need wins, and I wish for one against Valencia,” said Remon.
Remon then went on to analyse his opponents closer.
“Their thrashing at the hands of Inter doesn’t mean they aren’t a great team. Let’s not forget that they are the Liga champions, and that they have the same team of last season with a group of good Italian players to make them even more threatening,” he said.
It is uncertain whether Remon will play the same offensive side that beat Dynamo last Tuesday, with Zidane and Guti playing as central midfielders, and Ronaldo, Raul, Owen, and Figo on attack.
