Are you sure you weren't using EditPES4OptionFile ? There is another program called WEOptEditor but I don't think you could do that with it. So please refer to my program with the good name.

There's a post about that problem in that thread already.
I've listed ALL the players having their real face in the game but "wearing" a wrong one in Wolf's option file.

I've also listed their respective real face numbers so as everyone (maybe the Wolf ? ) can make the changes to get the faces back to their original values.

ok i see people are split but i'll definately give it a shot,i just hope i dont get into a situation where for example im playing as arsenal and henry is able to sprint by every player on the pitch etc,we dont want to go back to the days of the awful 'dribbling fix' of pes2 ,i also dont understand why so many average players have so many special abilities,j.cole and robben have loads whereas the rest of the chelsea starting line up have only 1 or 2,special abilities for me should be at a minimum ,reserved for players who do things week in week out on the world stage etc,for example i believe someone like ronaldo should have the scoring ability but should j.hartson have it too if hes playing in vastly different and far worse league,if he was playing in spain he'd never have that ability,its all about balance

As I said, stats may be more realistic, but special abilities aren't. Loads of players have side and/or centre thing, why? I don't think the converter works properly with special abilites.

For example, why has Kiely (Charlton keeper) got penalty scoring? Penalty stopping yes, but scoring I can't understand.

The text relative to this ability in PES is "Can guard the ball with tricky dribbling". Doesn't seem to me as a special ability for keepers.

Now, I'm getting sick of these comments about the converter. If you don't like it, either have a look at CM4 stats, and tell me what way I must convert them in order to make everyone of you happy with every single player of the game, or don't use it.

NB: Sibon is rated too high, I'm sorry. He is a player who plays brilliantly 2 times a year, and the rest of the season he sucks. Vennegoor is the target-man iin the front, and he should be rated a little bit higher. He's unbeateble in the air and rarely looses a ball when he has it (though moving with it can be a problem). He NEVER gives up.

In reality a lot of the special abilities don't actually translate to anything in the game compared to the numbered stats anyway. You can highlight 'side' and center' for every player and it make ZERO playing difference. I tried playing against a friend earlier two games, one game with all the special abilities highlighted for all of my players and one with none of them highlighted. We used the same teams an I beat my friend 2-0 with everything highlighted and 3-1 without them highlighted. The only difference I noticed were longer throws!

The numbers are what's important and it doesn't seem that Konami really attribute the special attirbutes with any kind of logic. For instance, why would a player with mid-80's dribbling speed and accuracy have a dribbling ability and a player with the same stats in the mid-90's not????? Does that make any sense?

I'll repeat it again, if you don't want more realistic stats then keep to the old option file or another one out there. The whole point of this option file update was to make the game more realistic. I understand that making the game harder for the majority of people might not be popular but that's real life. Unless you're one of the big teams then life is hard! Depending on your playing ability, in all reality, there is little or no difference in how a player will perform once their stats get past 80 except for speed. The performance only noticeably drops when some of these stats drop into the 60's and 50's.

You can stick to the old option files where Konami artificially boosts the stats for 80% of the platers in the game by 20 points to enable any player in the game to be able to walk onto any other first team and do just as good a job or play with this new version when it's ready where it actually makes a difference if you put inferior players into a starting line-up. With the default database you could take out the whole of Man Utd's midfield and replace it with St-Etienne's midfield and hardly notice a difference. Do the same with the new stats and you'll notice a big difference in terms of not winning as many 50:50's, struggling to get successful distribution against better teams etc.

This thread was supposed to be for people to help with squad amendments, line-ups, appearances, etc but instead it's turned into a bitching session about probably the best external editing program we've ever had for the games and whether it's actually a better thing to make the players stats more realistic!
