Guys, I have a question. Can Two teams which already played each other in a same group face each other?

then we can have
Bayern - Bordeaux
CSCA - United
Inter - Barcelona

Sevillista

Starting XI
Lyon - Bordeaux
Bayern - Man U
Arsenal - Barca
Inter - CSKA

I don't know if the French should be happy or upset. On the one hand, they don't get to play the big European teams... on the other hand, they're guaranteed to have a French team in the semifinals.

Arsenal - Barcelona should be fanf*ckingtastic!

Inter-CSKA is the only one I wanted ... and I really wanted to see Inter face Barcelona in the final, not the semis ... looking forward to it regardless ... oh, and the quarterfinal against the Arse should be fun too ... Henry will be all emotional and sh!t ... and Cesc can find out why he needs to return to his home team permanently ...

on the other side of the draw, I will be whole-heartedly supporting my old favourite Louis Van Gaal in the quarters, and then Laurent Blanc's Bordeaux (I expect) in the semis -- coz Italy needs to not have a German team outdo the best Italian performance, for the sake of Italy's coefficient ...

not at all an ideal draw for what I wanted to see ... but should be an exciting Champions League regardless; some variety is ensured in the semifinals for the first time in a few years now ...

Not a bad draw for United if you compare it to Barca path to the final.

see you in final, Catalan fans.

It would be hard for Ronaldo to watch United-Barca at Bernabeo.

Damn, I really didn't want to face Arsenal. Obviously it should be a great game, and we should go through, but I wanted to face Arsenal in the final.

what a good luck united always have.

Why? We had to face AC Milan in the 1/8 and you guys had to face Stuttgart. Bayern is a tough side but on the other hand we will face Bordeaux/Lyon in the semis which makes it a favourable draw for us :)

I think the French should be happy that at least 1 french team will make it to the semi finals. Barca vs Arsenal and United Vs Bayern would be great to watch.

My prediction for now:

Quarter Finals: United (although its gonna be tough), Bordeaux, Barca and Inter to go through.

Semi finals: United Vs Bordeaux and Barca Vs Inter: United and Barca to go through.

Final: United Vs Barca

We are going to play the final as away team, ****, no party in madrizz vestry :(.

So what? The only difference will be your jersey colour.

I love how people always assume Arsenal will be soundly beaten. Like they did with Madrid, and all those Italian teams that we slaughtered like livestock.

Barca deserve the aura of invincibility, but they aren't a terrible physical team. Arsenal thrive on that.

I could see CSKA holding Inter in Italy and winning in Moscow.

Well a few here are already putting their name on the Final... yet this Arsenal team Can pull it off, unlike in the last few seasons were they would fall for lack of strength.

dressing room, mate! if Barcelona were designated the "home" team at the Bernabeu, the ignominy of such a situation for Real Madrid would be topped by Barcelona potentially celebrating victory in Real Madrid's own dressing room! that would be unbelievably humiliating ... that's the point ... I'm honestly not too fussed, but I can see how that could/would have given the players/fans something else to celebrate ...

most everyone predicted a Barça victory here; but I didn't see anyone saying the victory would be that "sound" ...

EDIT: I just reread this ... "all those Italians teams that WE slaughtered"?! "slaughtered"?! "all those"?! what?! when?!

oh really? haha ... both teams try to play an open, attacking game ... that is why so many people wanted to see these two teams face off (at some point), just for the spectacle ... Arsenal may thrive on non-physical teams, and I compliment them on that; but Barcelona's precision play, if the players are on form, is unmatched ... thus, they don't need rely on out-muscling opponents to keep the ball away from them ...

and while many many others think otherwise, I personally don't believe Arsenal play like Barça ... they definitely play a good passing game, which makes them the only English team worth watching at all, IMO ... but just because they play a passing game, doesn't mean they play like Barcelona ... Arsenal move it quicker through midfield and up the pitch, more so because their midfield isn't setup to retain and rotate possession as much as Barcelona ... and there certainly aren't as many players who can slice the opposition defence with a killer pass ... but this is according to me ... if Arsenal prove me wrong and shows me otherwise against Barça, then I will be the first to admit it ... what I will say is that Barça relish playing against attacking teams ... and like I've already mentioned, if Barça are on-song, their precision play is unmatched, and thus will win over ... plus, the second leg being at the Camp Nou will be an advantage ...

hah, I see ... well, all I can say to this is that I certainly hope you are made to eat every single word you wrote in this uncharacteristically opinionated post ...

Arsenal aren't terribly physical either and Barcelona thrives on that. The only success teams have had against Barca is by parking the bus or playing very physical/dirty. You and I both know that Wenger will not resort to either of those. That being said, anything can happen when two attacking teams play each other. I think it will come down to Barcelona's accuracy/luck in front of goal... sometimes they just can't find the back of the net.

And I think you're exaggerating a bit with the Italian teams. You beat Roma last season in PK's and I don't think anybody thought Arsenal would be beaten soundly.

I predict:
Barca > Arsenal
Bordeaux > Lyon
Man U > Bayern
Inter > CSKA

Inter > Barca (if anybody can beat Barca it's Jose)
Man U > Bordeaux

Man U > Inter

And also how everybody assumes Lyon and Bordeaux are walkover teams

I think so too: if anyone can, he can, especially considering that his team have gelled significantly since the group stage matches (when Barça walked all over Inter) ...

no need to generalize that much ... it is not true ...
