I dunno, I don't really mind Liddell too much, he's better than some of the other champs the UFC has had....like Randy Couture who was borring as hell. Tim Sylvia though is one of the worst title holder right now. I wish the UFC would just combine the light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions, there'd be so many more good match-ups. It would be good to see a guy like Liddell have to fight someone who outweighed him by like 50 lbs. like they do at Pride.

Ever see the Wanderlei Silva vs. Mark Hunt match, that was awesome! Lots of good hits and knock-downs..

WHY? The Japanese have a better understanding of the complexities and nuances of the sport and organize it better. Also, in Japan, the bigger guys, especially the native talent, are a lot bigger than any North American fighter in the UFC. Way bigger celebrities, man.


One more thing, (just a personal preference here) I'd rather live in Japan than Vegas, wouldn't you? I haven't been to Japan, but Jesus, given the opportunity Vegas or Japan? It ain't even a question. man.

Yeah, pride has fallen on some financial hard times with the loss of their tv contract in Japan and all, but it's still capable of paying their fighters top MMA dollar. I mean, if you're a top level fighter, would you go to America to earn a buck or two more and deal with lamb-chop like competition and rest on your laurels, or go down to Japan where the best calibre fighters are and earn almost the same amount as you would in America?


I don't understand why UFC extremists are taking such pleasure in Pride's financial decline? Why are you so excited about the dreadful potential of a one organization monopoly? It'll only ruin the sport, man. There's absolutely nothing wrong with two, three, hell a dozen healthy organizations competing against one another, is there? Why do you have to root for one and hate the other? Just root for them both, man. Because at the end of the day, it's all MMA!

I definitely agree with your last paragraph there.. I like Pride too and frankly I think Pride's less restrictive rules make for better overall MMA than UFC. ...and while I'm a big UFC fan too, there's a few signs that the UFC is heading in an unfortunate direction....and that is that there's way too much focus and promotion of the fighters that came from "The Ultimate Fighter" show, the vast majority of them are borring, crap fighters that would get dismatled against world-class opposition (Chris Leben vs. Anderson Silva anyone?). There's also this whole new crop of fans that are total MMA n00bs, but think they understand the sport because they watch the ultimate fighter on Spike TV..

Also, a lot of people are starting to speculate that Zuffa is trying to protect some of it's champs, especially Chuck Liddell since he's probably thier biggest money maker now. I think it'll be a long while before we see Liddell defend his title against someone that could really take his title (like CroCop or Rampage)

That being said, I'm happy to see CroCop and Rampage in UFC, for no reason other than the UFC was really needing a talent boost..

and I don't think rampage can do anything against chuck, cause he is more of a ground and pound type and not so much striker... he only beat him cause he took him to the ground but now liddell is too improved in his defence against take downs...

I saw the two fights rampage had against wanderlei and it wasn't even close, he got knocked out both times badly and fell out of the ring

so in conclusion they should make silva vs liddell very soon before liddell gets old and sh*tty... cause he is already pretty old

Good luck on that happening anytime soon... Liddell and UFC president Dana White have been avoiding a fight with Silva for a while now. From what I've read their excuse is that Silva lost to CroCop so it would be a step back for Liddell, it's all bullsh!t. I'm telling ya, they wanna protect Liddell for as long as possible..

-Liddell cuts 15-20 pounds to make it to 205 as it is right now. I don't see why he couldn't just fight at his walking weight against CroCop. You have to remember, man, Liddell is a pretty big LHW......his body frame is really deceiving.

-Liddell was brutalized with strikes in that fight, bro. I don't ever recall Rampage shooting for the takedown from a distance that was beyond an arm's length. He was beaten on his feet way before Rampage started going for the easy slams and started pounding the **** out of him.
