Have you guys heard the latest... seems that Randy Coture is coming out of retirment to likely fight Tim Sylvia in March ...I can't beleive they had to bring a guy out of retirment to fight Sylvia for the title, this really speaks for the UFC's lack of talent in the heavyweight division.

Definitely, yeah. It will really discredit that division's credibility even more if Randy edges out the victory/makes easy work of Big Tim. And you know what, I think that he's more than capable of dethroning 'em.....maybe Dana is fed up with Tim's lacklustre performances and secretly wants Tim to be beaten?

Well, Tim Sylvia is probably the most un-talented title holder ever in the UFC, IMO anyways... so yeah, I'd agree that Randy has a very good chance of taking the title. Anyways, a Cro Cop vs. Coture match could turn out really bad for Randy down the road though, especially at his age..

From what I've seen I really like that Brandon Vera kid that's up and coming, I think he's got something like an 8-0 record and looks like a real heavy hitter. I'd be shocked if he didn't get some higher profile fights soon..

Brandon Vera wants big money from the UFC and only has 1 fight left on his contract. He probably would've gotten the fight against Sylvia if he signed a new contract.

And the Silva v Liddell didn't occur because Dana wanted Silva for 3 fights while Pride wouldn't let them do that. Now Pride's president is speaking about how he wants to work with the UFC now since they are struggling financially.

About the TUF shows. Most of the fighters are mediocre like Leben and Koscheck but some do show a lot of potential like Diego, Bisping, Rashad, Jardine. They could all be champs some day.

And Rampage himself wants 2 fights before fighting Liddell again. They need to build up fighters first, like what they did with Anderson Silva, by giving them 1 or 2 fights before sticking them into a title fight. Even BJ Penn had to fight GSP instead of getting an immediate title shot with Matt Hughes.

And talk about protecting champions. Look at Pride and their non title matches.

It seems that the going rumour right now is that the UFC has bought all, if not a portion of the Pride organization. Apparently it wouldn't change much as Pride would still operate independantly and with the same rules/format. If it's true then I guess this mean we can expect some cross organization super-cards from time to time. Close to being a monopoly but not quite, but for now I can see this as only positive for the fans as it would be great to see matches like Silva-Liddell, Sylvia-Mark Hunt, Sakuraba-GSP, etc, etc..


Anyhow, I'll beleive it when I see it. Right now it's nothing more than an internet rumour from people claiming to have "reliable sources"... (:/)

****! Pride 33............wow. The card was ridiculously underwhelming when the fights were announced, but the action in the ring far exceeded my wildest expectations, man.


-triggs beating Misaki.....slight upset

-that last second stand-in boxer dude choking out wiuff.......NICE

-Sudoku boy shocking the world by KOing Lil' Nog.........wow......this dude was explosive from the start and just awesome

-Sakurai with another impressive showing......those punch/low kick combos were simply devastating, man

-Kharitonov's out of nowhere armbar.....nice......but up until then, he wasn't all that impressive, man

-Overeem......typical, just ******* typical, man. He starts out really well, even looking as though he's gonna win and then as soon as he's taken down, match is pretty much over, man. His cardio sucks, overall gameplanning sucks, ground game? NONEXISTENT! All the physical tools a fighter could be handed through his genetic foundation and yet he's always losing to the upper eschelon of fighters, man.....dumb ****er....anyway, excellent finish by Rua. That punch was ******* awesome!

-Diaz/Gomi.......what an all out war............WAR I tell yah! This match was a total sloppy slugfest and I enjoyed every minute of it, man. Diaz stood toe to toe with Gomi and ate some serious punches, but he recovered well enough to dole out some quality jabs aswell. At the end, Gomi was cardiowned no doubt, he showed heart, Diaz too, but because he came in better shape, he had the wherewithal to pull off a mother******* gogoplata so seemlessly after being taken down......WOW

-I've never seen Silva this hesitant and unassure about his standup. Henderson came in phenomenal shape both physically and mentally and he didn't just stand around looking for a takedown, he fought just as well on his feet as he did on the ground. From the first scuffle, you could tell that Henderson wasn't gonna get dominated............what an ASTOUNDING victory, man.....wow......just WOW!

SO what do you think about this weekends UFC? I'm gonna watch it ofcourse but to be honest the main event is the only fight I'm really looking forward to on this card. The UFC cards seem so diluted these days, although the event planned for April in the UK looks like it will be a spectacular fight card.

The odds were like +1400 on the Cameroonian warrior.....there's this rumour going around of some dude laying 10k on 'em (Snope better be all over this one)........I don't know where he got that kind of cap limit, because the most you could bet on it everywhere I looked was like 500 bucks, maybe less.

UFC 68? What is that? Honestly, I've been so absorbed in the aftermath of Pride 33 that I haven't had the chance to preview UFC's card this weekend......sheesh. Jesus, wasn't their last show just a couple of weeks ago?

Anyway, aside from the the main card, I'm really looking forward to the Hughes/Lytle match, and the Franklin/Macdonald one too.

Do you get The Fight Network at all Yoss? I'm just wondering if you've been following the development of EliteXC at all.. I watched their first event and it had it's flaws but I thought it was a good start overall. I really like their policy of open contracts for fighters, I doubt it but if UFC and Pride eventually went the same way then maybe we could see some of those dream match-ups we MMA fans always talk about..

Definitely, yeah. They're run by a boxing promoter, so that concept of theirs where fighters are their own entities and can at any time challenge fighters from other companies is great for the sport overall imo.


Fighters (like in boxing) get a bigger pay day, and so do those who promote the event.

Haha, I thoroughly enjoyed watching Sylvia get completely dominated after f*ckin' Joe Rogan spent the night hyping the crap out of him!

I'm not so surprised that Randy won, I just can't beleive how easy it looked... somebody I was watching with said "this fight's gonna be over in the first 30 seconds" and while I was still laughing at him Randy floors Sylvia! So close..

Now, I'm actually fearing for Randy's life since he's inevitably gonna be put in the cage with Cro-Cop next.
