I really have no idea how this one will turn out. I think all the advantage and momentum goes to South Africa being an inaugural match, but I'm really hoping Mexico shows the form they showed against Italy. Either way, I can't wait!

******* cannot wait. Haven't been this excited about the start of a Summer tourney in probably over a decade. Let's get going!

Definitely looking forward to it. Unfortunately I am working all day Friday but I will be recording both games and watching at night. Hoping for a South African victory in that one.

Its interesting that most South Africans play in their domestic leagues. I don't know much about Mexico so I am excited to see how this game pans out.

Yeah, it would be nice if the first WC on African soil doesn't result in the first time a home team doesn't make it to the second round.

In a way I hope the home team gets knocked out early that way another Japan/South Korea favoritism doesn't happen again.

Chicharito :)

I'm gonna miss that due to work. **** that. Bloody time difference. I'll also miss the first half of Uruguay-France. :nape:

I reckon Mexico will prove to strong in the end and win by 2-0

btw I am wet at the thought of this much constant football!!!

unsurprisingly, i will be supporting South in the opener ... apart from wanting to see the African hosts through, I want the other qualifier from the group to be Uruguay, so a win for South to kickoff the tournament will be ideal ...

Korea with Byron Moreno against Italy was just disgraceful ... and the Spaniards will talk about Gamal Al-Ghandour ... but I don't recall any dodgy calls that went Japan's way in 2002 ... anyway, I think it will be a non-issue with SA ...

I hate these mid-afternoon 4 o'clock kick-offs. This might well be the first time I'm going out to watch a football match in a local bar and not drink beer and get drunk. I have some important stuff to do in the evening, so yeah, lame...

I'm leaving for US early saturday morning for ten days, so I have no idea how I'll be able to follow the World Cup in the beginning. :(

I reckon, with the help of the home crowd, South Africa will clinch a 1-1 draw.

saturday? well, by the time you get here, you may be privy to the biggest soccer-related celebration in US history ...

where in the States are you gonna be? coz i can almost guarantee you won't have a problem finding a place to watch the games -- as long as you are ready to wake up a little early (esp. if you're on the west coast) ...

Bemidji, Minnesota. The thing is, I'm not going on a pure vacation. I'm going to a music camp, which will last for a week, and the schedule may well be such that I won't be able to see the matches. Should be a fun trip, though. And atleast I can check the results and highlights on the internet.

I'm predicting 3-1 Mexico. I've been waiting so long for this day.
I get the results of my final exams tomorrow as well, so I'm hoping it'll be a day with two things to cheer about.

School ended in Romania, I'll just watch all the matches. It will be a summer full of football.

About the kick-off time, I'm not too pleased with the early afternoon matches, but when I think off Brazil 2014, I am just grateful.

Yeah Jabo, don't forget to stick a flute up some girl's pussy... (H)

Anyways, I predict a close 2-2 goal-fest, with three goals scored in the last 30 minutes.
