Portugal winning 2-0 doesn't mean the referees will be biased, but if you are so confident that the only way for such to happen is the referees to happen then good for you. I still think Portugal will win 2-0 and Elizondo won't be biased.

4-1? LOL England can barely score a goal on Ecuador and you guys think you're going to connect 4 in the net? Nice try on that one. The game will be tightly knit, scoreline will most likely be 1-0 or 2-1.

And there it goes again...it hasn't even started yet, and some of you are already complaining about the referee.. can you at least wait until the game starts? If you are already like this, there's NO chance our players won't dive, waste time and bla bla bla. Also, it's funny saying that England is better than Portugal since I don't remember english teams beating portuguese in a while..but ok.
About the game, I think it will be a very hard game...we have to be cautious not to give free kicks away for Beckham (even though Ricardo is nice on free kicks,he's a total mess on crosses to the area) but we also can't allow those dangerous shots by Gerard and Lampard. Deco will be an huge miss for our team, he would be our best player in this kind of match, keeping the ball on the floor, easily moving the team up. Without him I'm afraid there's nobody in our midfield to create spaces..I hope they don't start rushing out sending balls to the wingers without keeping the game's pace. Portugal will irritate England if we play as we know..slowly in the midfield with short passes..ou players are full with skill to do that job and slow down the english impressive midfield. Costinha will also be missed since he would be a great help in the higher balls, but Petit is in a great shape and won't let Lampard/Gerard play.
I think this match will be decided on who will be best, the strong center midfield from England or the talented portuguese wingers. Simão, Ronaldo and MIGUEL could be a real problem to a quite slow defense like the english one (IMO). Joe Cole will have to help AC a lot, cause if not, he will have big problems getting Ronaldo and Miguel on his wing.

About England's disapointing exhibitions, I don't think that's important at this stage...this will be a totally diferent match...besides that Portugal hasn't been that strong either.

But I can tell you this, it won't be an easy cake for England. Don't count on that. I can see the english press doing that trash talking..they're always like that..but I'm surprised with some comments here. If I was english I would have total faith in my team (as I do in Portugal) but I would be a lot more careful considering I was sent home by the portuguese in 2000,2004...and Portuguese coach in 2002.
Anyway, tough TOUGH task for Portugal. Let's hope we can get that win.

I don't know why people get so worked up with the english media bullcrap and the arrogance of some posters here. Hey, they got to behave like this. That's why beating the crap out of them time and time again is so satisfying, right?

I'm just going to add two comments and a prediction:

1) The fake Pauleta interviews, the pressure from the english journalists at our press-conference trying to call us dirty, etc. That's all typical moves from those who aren't confident enough their team can win it on a fair contest inside the pitch.
We're doing none of that.

2) Thanks english press for the free extra motivational boost. Really. (Y) :jap:

wow its been a long time since i last posted on this forum, as u can probley tell by my name im portuguese , well any ways if the two teams continue to play the same way portugal will take it 1-0 early goal and defend the rest of the way. if both teams pick it up with the absent of deco, and the english great strikers england will take it 2-0 possible 2-1, but being the portuguese fan i am, i still say portugal 2-0 early goal , and goal in injury time of 2nd half, goals by pauleta (finaly) and by maniche . portugal!

Just because the ref can't appreciate the first rule of english football (we cannot win a major tournament) doesn't mean you have to take it out on us :p

I can see England being arrogant a bit because of Deco's suspension so I won't be surprised if they lose. For Portugal, it is a chance for Simao/Tiago/Petit to shine and claim a spot in the semis if they impress. I think Portugal will win a classic.
