Not nearly as primitive as your "I don't like it, therefore it's wrong, inferior and they should do as i do instead" attitude. The clichéd mentality of a knuckle dragger.

Those trumpets have been a part of South African fan culture for an eternity. Now because some fan is watching on TV on the other side of the world, they should suddenly get rid? Get real. Mute the TV if you don't like it.

you forgot to call me racist . I haven't heard these tromphets in african tournaments before. If the african culture would require sex in the stands during match this doesn't mean it's right.

now give me a break

Rossi. That's a real kick in the nuts, America I feel your pain.
P.S. Do you guys think we might need to open a new thread for each game?

South Africa does not equate to Africa.

I said South African, not African. If you'd watched the South African Premiership or South African national team before, you'd have heard them.

Trumpets in comparison with public sex. Good argument.

Thanks for continuing to prove my point.

Two fantastic goals by Rossi. Too bad he decided to play for Italy, if he changed his mind and came back to the states he would instantly be our best player.

Forza Suarez! (ps brotha can you spare a dime?)
Great game by Rossi, this should convince Lippi to play him more. Should have started ahead of Camoranesi. Changed the game the instant he came on. Gilardino was ineffective, Toni did more in his limited minutes. The US were hard done by that red card, it was yellow at worst. The US had two excellent chances with Bradley and Altidore in the 1st half, especially Altidore who made a terrible decision to pass and not shoot. Overall a good result, these points will come in handy if the last group game against Brazil becomes important than it should be.

YELLOW CARD: Untrustworthy
That red card really changed everything for us. In and 11 v 11, we may have had chance, yet it was obvious that after that red card and coming into the second, we were going to sit back and try to catch then on the counter.

I still don't understand why they didn't try to close in on those long shots. Now we gotta play against two more teams that just scored seven goals between them. It's gonna be a tough game to watch.

That ******* traitor. (Just kidding.)

Too much class in the Italian squad in the end, although I would have liked to see how we would have fared with 11 men for the entire game. We looked gassed by minute 60.

Player ratings:

Howard - 7 (he might have been shielded on De Rossi's goal, but c'mon; made some great saves though)

Bornstein - 5 (good effort, but he's not the answer at LB; if you're built like a Romanian gymnast, you should at least be able to deliver a dangerous cross)
Onyewu - 7 (both centerbacks played very well)
DeMerit - 7
Spector - 6 (generally did well)

Dempsey - 5 (continues his painfully mediocre run of form for the US)
Clark - N/A (was playing very well until the red card, we really missed his defensive presence in the second half)
Bradley - 6 (I thought he was excellent in the first half, but did so much running that he quickly ran out of steam in the second)
Feilhaber - 5 (his pass helped create the penalty kick, but someone needs to give him some Halls, cause he was coughing up the ball like had chronic bronchitis; the equalizer came from just such an error)
Donovan - 7 (one of the few bright spots in attack)

Altidore - 7 (our best player)

Because both Onyewu and Demerit have ox-like agility, and they're afraid of getting burned (which they undoubtedly would) by a skillful player like Rossi. I think the key there is having a midfielder who's fast enough to track back and put pressure on the shooter. Ricardo Clark is such a player (and so is Jermaine Jones, btw) but obviously he was gone by that point.

The problem with Rico getting sent off (apart from the whole "playing a man down for 60 minutes" thing) was that it forced Bradley to move Feilhaber into a deep-lying central midfield position next to Michael Bradley. Feilhaber is a terrible defender and he has a propensity for giving the ball away cheaply. He should be playing as far up the field as possible. We really lacked Rico's defensive bite in the second half, and that's what allowed the Italians to shoot at will from 25 yards out.
