So much negativity, so little reason to back it up. Aside from the concern that no alcohol will be served in Qatar, I suspect most of the outrage is over the fact that the World Cups will not be in familiar Westernized countries.Ulysses;2959704 said:world cup becomes worse with every instance. Common we already had South Africa now Russia and Qatar ?
Haha, I was not being xenophobic. I was speculating that those who are unhappy with the selections are being xenophobic based on the fact that they are outraged for no particular reason.Filipower;2959738 said:Yes, Mandieta6 lives in Rio.
None of my outrage is due to it not being organized in what you xenophobialy call "familiar Westernized countries".
There wouldn't be any vuvuzelas in England, Portugal, Spain, USA.

Doha will have 6

Weather
As the World Cup usually occurs during the northern hemisphere's summer, the weather in Qatar was a concern with temperature reaching as high as 50 degrees Celsius. However, the Qatar bid's chief executive, Hassan al-Thawadi said "Heat is not and will not be an issue." The Qatar 2022 Bid's official site also explains:
"Each of the five stadiums will harness the power of the suns rays to provide a cool environment for players and fans by converting solar energy into electricity that will then be used to cool both fans and players at the stadiums. When games are not taking place, the solar installations at the stadia will export energy onto the power grid. During matches, the stadia will draw energy from the grid. This is the basis for the stadiums’ carbon-neutrality. Along with the stadiums, we plan to make the cooling technologies we’ve developed available to other countries in hot climates, so that they too can host major sporting events."
This method of cooling techniques would be able to reduce temperatures from 40 to 20 degrees Celsius. The bidding committee also proposes to use such cooling technologies in fan-zones, training pitches and walkways between metro stations and stadiums
Alcohol
Hassan Abdulla al Thawadi, chief executive of the Qatar 2022 World Cup bid, said the Muslim state would also permit alcohol consumption during the event. Specific fan-zones will be established where alcohol can be bought.
Those are crazy awesome. I hope they pull it off.Nady;2959755 said:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_FIFA_World_Cup
These issues have been addressed, so you guys can stop crying.
The only thing I have against is that they have never qualified for the WC. I think its gonna be as successful as 2002 Jap/Kor.

Wow very very nice stadiums.
ShiftyPowers;2959771 said:The "solar cooling" technology is bull****. Unless they play all indoors games it's going to be ******* hot no matter what they do. I can't BELIEVE FIFA just took them at their word on this.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_FIFA_World_CupIsrael
The head of the Qatar bid delegation has stated that should Israel qualify, they will be able to compete in the World Cup despite the country not recognising Israel.[10][11][12] Israeli athletes have competed previously in Qatar, such as Israeli tennis player Shahar Pe'er in 2008.[13]
ShiftyPowers;2959771 said:...civil rights, and women's rights are absolutely terrible.
Gender equality
In 1999, Qatar came to allow women to legally vote and gain senior positions in government.[12][2] The country is still, however, a monarchy, despite major steps towards a ruling council or Republic-style system. There are no laws preventing women from dressing how they like, provided they refrain from being provocative, as is expected of men as well. However modest clothing is still worn by both women and men.
ShiftyPowers;2959771 said:Oh and... security was a "concern" for England's bid, but we have no problem with Qatar? I wouldn't go within 100 miles of a Team USA game at this World Cup.
Qatar will probably hire Hiddink and get past the group stageShiftyPowers;2959771 said:Not to mention that 1) Qatar doesn't stand a ******* chance at qualifying for the World Cup legitimately and it will be a top seed and 2) their record on stuff like not recognizing Israel, civil rights, and women's rights are absolutely terrible.
