Look, Jari, let's go back about 5 years ago when Litmanen was in his best years... Sami Hyypia was, how old, 22 years old? And Litmanen was 23? And how come Finland, always with these GREAT players was a team that everybody used to get 3 points on? And why should this "tradition" change this year? Litmanen is not that great now, the keeper might not save the team if defense sucks, and you've got players from English 1st division!!!
As fro Greece, they are not worse than that team in 1994, and Finland did not change much since those years....

Do I harshly comment on your country. I think not. How an earth would you know how our team has developed... Actually the defence is the best part of our game. Greece won 1-0 at home.. it was a home win but a poor one.. when they come to Finland they will loose. Ask any expert on football..

Jari: I never used any bad words or anything, sometimes pretty insultive comments, but sorry for them. You can make any harsh remarks about Russian NATIONAL SOCCER TEAM.
How I know? I look on results. And I do not remember moving my eyebrows up when seeing games in which Finland played. They win at home -- so what. Any good team should do that, no matter what team they are playing against. For Greece -- long 6 years ago they qualified for the World Cup. Finland didn't. It doesn't matter, though, because we have to judge teams NOW. Allright. How are Finland changed for the 6 years? Pretty good, started to challenge teams. But not bigger!
About defense: did you see the word "IF" in the remark. .."IF" defense sucks... meaning that IF defense sucks, keeper might not save the team. It sounds inaccurate -- what I meant here is that not every shot is "saveable" for the keeper.
Why I am heresaying all that is just because of your words: "we have more talented players than Greece has" and you are proud of world class talents Hyypia and Litmanen who TOOK FINNISH TEAM NOWHERE before. Just because you do not know anyone from Greece, it doesn't mean that Finland has more talented players than Greece. Forever they have not been a european superpower playing worse than Greece, and now why should they be any different? And another funny comment "results speak for themselves"... You beat Albania with a minimal score at home, drew with a highly struggling England and lost to Greece. You did not even play Germany away, unlike Greece, and just because Greece lost to the leader of the group, doesn't they are worse than Finland..

But, again, if they would get 2nd place, they would do something spectacular and I will finally admitt that Finnish team is worth of paying attention to, like I did with Slovenia, Czech Republic, Poland......

Even me, a dead fan of Russian hockey teams began to be careless about the results after the loss to Swiss.... I do think that that's temporary, and that there's always next year.... The coach is a dumbass, he manages a club from Russian Premier league (the best league is SuperLeague in Russia, then it's Premier Division, and then it's 1st division. So, Premier Division is not the highest division) Spartak Moscow.... We need someone better.

The most consitently well placing teams in hockey right now are the czech and finnish no others.. Russia had a miserable season last yr ending up where? last in the standings well almost.. Finland placed third.. which was a poor result in all means. If we would of been you and done that bad I would of killed myself literally!
OH AND GREEKS - You lost to Albania and don't give any excuses we won them. Albania is a terrible team and it's a mockery to loose to them. They are complete crap to say the least! If we would loose to them we'd announce a state of emergency throughout Finland. Anyone that looses to that Albanian bunch is and will be a laughing stock.

It is just a failed WC, all because of the manager, because the whole team consisted of real nhl stars (Pavel Bure, Alex Yashin), but what's ironical is that Russian best players were the players who played in the Russian league (the keeper Bryzgalov, Suchinsky who is now in Minnesota)... I do not what happened, but I do know that there's always next year..
My point, Jari, is that with Hyypia and Litmanen playing, Finland could have lost a wondefull match in Helsinki 6:0 to Russia, who, btw, finished below Greece.
Please, do not say that Finnish team is better because you have those world class players like Hyypia and Litmanen. That is an opinion of a child.
BTW, if you are a footbal fan, you should remember the name of Kanchelskis. The guy that played in Manu in 1992-1995, really brilliant winger. He was bought by Glasgow for 10 million dollars, scottish record at the time, and although he now is not like he was before, he was Manu's of of the top players before...

I have heard of Titov and definately of Kanchelskis. He was great for ManU. Yeah that was the past Now in present time Finland is BETTER. why may you ask? Well we have better players we have a better youth system than your countries. We have more money for youth development. We have a great coach in Antti Muurinen. We have won the last 6 home matches we have played and tied against England. England, Norway, Poland, Belgium haven't managed to win us. So what if they had 7 players injured. I understand Machlas is a loss to them but excuses as I said won't take anyone far. If you got a few players injured you have to play you have to be a good enough squad to provide replacements. At least we have a lot of players from top european clubs that cab replace the players we have now. One of the hottest prospects in european football Mikael Forssell plays for Finland and he scored two goals in his debut for Chelsea. We have so many great young players coming through the ranks and finnish football has definately risen from those times and you should acknowledge that. In fact i believe Finland and Russia are the same level now although we just have more star players than you.

In the last 6 years we have managed to qualify in the World Cup and beat Finland 4-0. I didn't say that Greece is much better than Finland. It's a well known fact that Greece can't win away. The thing that tickt me off was Jari's claim that Finland was better than Greece and equal to Russia. That is not true.
Second, I wouldn't say that the foreign players are the best players in our league. If you rank them then you will get some of the foreign players in the top of the ranks but the Greeks would fall inbetween them. The reason why Greece has such a high class of international players playing in the league is that it is finaly becoming competitive enouph and world class players want to play in Greece, unlike Finland.

Hyypia is WAY overrated by you. He is great defender, Russia would welcome such guy to the first 11, but saying that he is better than the whole Russian squad is a complete joke. Russia's got some of good veterans in the defense, although they are pretty much unknown (Onopko -- Real Oviedo. Khlestov -- Besitkas). And Drzodov with Chugainov from Loko M.
For the midfield -- Russia's most successful part of the team. Alexei Smertin as defensive midfielder/central midfielder. He plays for Bordeaux, and before the injury, he played 11 straight games for them. Yegor Titov - clearly the best player in the team gets the AM. Valeri Karpin, another great veteran is from Celta Vigo. On the lft there is Mostovoi (Celta), Alenichev (Porto), or Khokhlov (Real Sociedad), or Gusev (Dinamo Moscow).

well for bloody sakes you mentioned a twat some eduard something from ab copenhagen!?!?!?! I do believe St. Etienne are a stronger side. HJK Helsinki is much better than AB kophehavn or however it's written.. What pisses me off is that you ppl can't admit you don't have quality like Litmanen and Hyypiä. Hyypiä is the CAPTAIN of Liverpool and their best defender and was second best last yr in the premiership. Litmanen needs no introduction.. then there is a lot more like Johansson who was second best scorer in the premiership but I believe he holds the third spot now shared with many others like Alan Smith of Leeds etc..
