Arsenal's Vieira has dig at Chelsea: FA Cup features best 2 teams

Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira has taken a clear dig at Chelsea by insisting this season's FA Cup final will feature the Premiership's two best teams.
Players from both Arsenal and Manchester United have criticised Chelsea's conservative style of play as the Blues have cantered away with the title this term.


Vieira, 28, said: "Our game against Manchester United is the best cup final people could have hoped for. I really believe these are the two best footballing teams in the country.

"I congratulated Claude Makelele, William Gallas, John Terry and Frank Lampard after the game because I don't see Chelsea losing the league now.

"If they win the title it proves they are the best overall team in the Premiership. But maybe they don't play the best football.

"Last week we caused them a lot of trouble and made them work really hard. But we needed an early goal to make them come out and play.

"But Chelsea only wanted a point so well done to them for getting it. It gives us a lot of optimism for next year."

Vieira added: "The rivalry between the two teams is obviously so high so it should be a fantastic game.

"There will be a big build-up but we just have to focus on the football because we have been doing really well lately."

Wenger may 'look at' Beckham swoop


Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger could 'look at' the possibility of signing England captain David Beckham this summer.

Beckham, 29, is currently with Spanish giants Real Madrid and has often been linked with a move back to the Premiership since leaving Manchester United in 2003.

Wenger is quoted in the News of the World: 'We will have some money to spend in the summer and if there was a chance to sign David Beckham, we would look at it.

'If the situation arises that it is possible, why not?'

Beckham played for Madrid in their 2-0 win over Real Sociedad yesterday, closing the gap on La Liga leaders Barcelona to three points.

lol we arent going to get Ronaldo, and Beckham why not? he is a pretty good players, he isnt as good as the world and his salary make him out to be but hes certainly not crap and if he was willing to have a realistic salary at Arsenal why not, he used to dominate the Prem imagine his passes with Henry running on to them

i know....about the passes and the crosses which henry and reyes will receive. but

qs1 Will becks come to Arsenal?
qs2 What will happen to ljungberg if becks comes?

Probably not and we need the depth Freddie is injured most of the time so its always good to have extra depth, he can also play on the left

lol.....i'm getting a feeling becks is gonna come to arsenal, and i also feel the he'll play better than now since he'll get his original pos. back. I feel that wenger will sell of pires to some other club. I guess wenger had already planned to buy beckham as he had said earlier that he will offer pires only a one year. ext. Doing this when pires leaves or retires ljungberg will be able to play on the left.

If u haven't understood what i've said here's the breif message:-

Beckham was a hero at Manchester United. There is no way he would sign for the rival club. Maybe you Arsenal fans can see it, but from a neutral perspective, i really reallly doubt Beckham would do that.

Plus, the man has already said he wants to finish his career at Real Madrid.

21 year old Olafur Skulason is training with Hearts according to Icelandic reports. He has been given permission to leave Arsenal on a free at the end of the season.

I can't find anywhere that confirms this, but do any of you Gooners know how good he is, position, attributes etc?

ljungberg will stay for a while,he said he wanted to stay a few more seasons and come on hes had a good season,his goals have helped us.i miss him i wish he wasn't injured. him and henry might not even get the play tell next season

He's a 6' tall midfielder.

He's better than Dean Shiels.
