Sao Pablo World Champs!!!! Congrats!!!!
They've join the prestigious "3 time Elites" who won the world championship 3 times
(Real Madrid (Spain)
Milan (Italy)
Nacional (Uruguay)
Penarol (Uruguay)
Boca (Argentina)
and....
Sao Pablo (Brazil)

Rogerio :rockman:
Lugano :rockman:

About the "Look who's talking" comment of Liverpool saying that they should have won.

All I can say is that Milan dominated 84 Minutes of that game (+ the silver goals) and Liverpool tied the game up in those 6 odd minutes (their only chances in the game too).

It's not Sao Pablo's fault that Liverpool couldnt finish the goals. (And Rogerio is one of the best keepers in Brazil <Better than Dida "I love to give free rebounds" IMO)

Congrats Sao Pablo!!!!!

BTW, to Sarprissa fans. This does NOT mean you are the #3 best team on earth :funny:

Only Sao Pablo are the World Champs (I realized long ago that in Football, no one could care less who is "The best on earth" but whether you're champion or not is more is what's important <Or else Milan or Barca would have won the CL last year easily>.)

Sao Pablo world champs :)

Sao Paulo did deserve too win if you ask me. Although we (Liverpool) did have the majority of shots on goal and possesion. Sao Paulo did more with the ball, everytime they got possesion, I felt a threat on the Liverpool goal.

We looked out of ideas from the start. Morientes looks like hes lost his way when he gets onto the pitch these days, especially when hes a lone striker.

Rogerio looked like a real class keeper too, hopefully I'll get too see more of him.

Congrats Sao Paulo, I think you deserved it.

Congratulations to Sao Paulo. (Y)

Liverpool's defense blinked once, and didn't know what hit them.
They did an excellent game defensively and overall for 89 minutes, but they should know well what happens when you don't finish plays. Domination is just not enough.
Benitez played it save, using the same strategy through-out the game, didn't risk much until the end, and got what was waiting.

Gerard was the man of the match in my opinion, great spirit.
Ceni close behind, with his usual saves. He's the best Brazilian goalkeeper right now, no doubt.

And that's the Fifa World Championship...

I thought it was good.
Great games.
Immaculate presentation by the Japanese...
...and the best club in the world right now won the cup.

Any problems with that mate?

I didn't watch the game, managed to get in my exam 5 mins before the match, and get out just in time to see the final whistle... then I had another exam after lunch and travel 200+ km, so I didn't get any highlights... Mineiro's goal was good, though I see Liverpool had 3 goals ruled out, with at least one of them quite dubious... 2 balls at the crossbar and a magnificent performance from Ceni... oh well... that's football, I guess...
I was a bit worried, me being in Sao Paulo and everything, I'd have to face some problems with traffic, or rioters in the subway or whatever, but it was really calm... not even too much noise... I still believe Liverpool only lost because I failed to wear my liverpool shirt, as Liverpool haven't lost a single match when I was wearing it... that included Chelsea in last season CL and Milan...

Thankfully it's Holiday season, so I won't be in touch with many Sao Paulo fans, but I guess they deserve to celebrate...

Congrats to them... but... [mourinho]The best team lost[/mourinho]

Not at all, always thought he was english, i was wondering if he was an english man in SP (C)

And i had no clue there were brazilians who had European clubs as their main club, i thought that only happened in countries where football wasn't developed yet (Asian countries for instance).

Who cares....its a mickey mouse cup.It exists to make Blatter some more money to maintain his fleet of cars and his private jet.Really, nobody (in Europe at least),puts any importance in this silly competition. The league cup has more prestige than this one.
Of course it was an interesting game between the two sides but who gives a crap who won.Its meaningless.A team should take part because they WANT to and not because they are FORCED to.Fifa forced Liverpool to play in this cup.Given the choice i'm sure Liverpool would rather have stayed in England fighting for the Premier League title. Now they are jet lagged, tired, disillusioned and down...........hang on a minute, what am i thinking?..........Yeah i love this cup.....its a great idea.....I would have made Liverpool go too.......Damn right.......... :funny:

the flag was up before the cross came in, and therefore the defenders and goalkeeper didnt move... wasnt really "disallow"ing a goal.

Doesnt matter if the flag was up before the cross came in, referee is the only one who can make a call. A referee could ignore all of his linesman decisions if he wants to (stupid thing to do) but he could if he wants to.

I haven't seen the game don't really plan on, hopefully someone can post some highlites. Form what I've heard, liverpool seemed unlucky. Should have done better with their chances too.

More importantly I think this tournament is a waste of time, just like the confeds. In the end players will just get tired and perform poorly in places where it counts like the world cup, champions league, league or league cup.

I just hope someday UEFA realizes that FIFA is cramping their style and stop associating with them alltogether. We have euro which is almost the equivalent to WC, champuions league, the best players in the World playing for our clubs and countries. We don't need the WC or fifa, f *** them I say.

You know South America won, right?

They also have more world cups than Europe. Despite having fewer nations.

You may be right about that, but it definitely has more prestige in your country. But even the Premier League or the League Cup is not the league of my country, so if you know what I mean, I don't get all emotional about who wins the Premier League, it's only interesting because it's good football.

I don't think you guys over there will ever care about this cup, but I don't really care if you do because it's the only chance that I can see teams I root for actually play against good teams from over there in an actual club competition instead of meaningless friendly like the Real Madrid/La Galaxy friendly last summer. Sure it doesn't have meaning like winning the premeire league, but it does have meaning at least to some of us. So it's important to me to see this cup happen. And I'm now waiting for the day a MLS team will win the Concacaf Champions Cup (which they have done twice) so they can be in this competition and hope for some fun for myself.

Dont' get me wrong, were not at your level of football in the USA, and I know it, but I still like the league of my country, and I will continue to watch it. Go to games if I'm in the states, or watch via internet if I can.

Anyway, just my two cents,

Fair points mate and i stand corrected.......yeah,i guess it is interesting to be able to see teams we rarely see play, like Sao Paulo. Also you are right when you say that It gives teams like this the opportunity to play teams from other confederations which doesn't happen enough in my opinion.

So OK mate....i have reversed my view on this entirely after seeing it from someone elses angle............ :ewan:

By the way....did you get the kits i sent you?

Oh yeah I got the kits you sent me, thanks, I'll put those trinidad kits in the next update.

By the way, thanks for your open mindedness on this subject. I would say that I think the timing of the tournament is bad for the teams in Europe. I would seem to me that the best time for the tournament would be when the Champions Cup for each regions ends. They all end at different times, but why not make the tournament right after the European Champions League final. I guess some might argue against that because the players would need rest, but I don't see a better time. its surely better than December. Pluse the best players from the teams that win the champions league won't be gone when the transfer window opens. And it's only extending the season for one team in Europe by only one week.

But I'm sure Mr. Blatter isn't going to read this post, and I'm sure they've already thought of this, and denied it for some reason. But I'm wondering why why why??? And it wouldn't be freezing butt in Japan.

I doesn't make sense to me to have this tournament months after the Champions Cups from each region, the teams have evolved to much in that amount of time.

Right after the European Champions League would be perfect, it's not to long after the Concacaf Champions Cup final either. And in the middle of the MLS season, which I think would work very well for the Concacaf Region.

S. America may be a different story (I would have to look up the dates of the copa libertadores), but somebody has to compromise, and I don't think it should be the high money teams in Europe,

Can anyone imagine the Houston Astros missing some game of the regular season to play in another tournament against the Mexican League winner? Or the Super Bowl Champions to play the winner of NFL Europe?? (I'm making a relative comparison to make a basic point)

Anyway, my two cents
