Overated, as i keep saying. FARR better as a comedy, the amount of people i've had to endure comments from explaining how amazing it was, no it wasnt, it was a very funny black comedy, that looked brilliant, but was little more.

The Player.... last Altman classic I hadnt seen.... great ******* movie! Up there with MASH, Long Goodbye, Gosford Park and Nashville. Stunning performance by Tim Robbins, I dont know why but I never picture him as being able to carry a film, yet he does it so often and with such panache - truly a great actor. All the A-List cameos just add to the reality and style of the piece, making it classic Altman, and I absolutely loved the ending. I read that pretty much all the cameos and their dialogues were improvised which is amazing, but also explains why it was all so natural. A very very good movie and further asserts Altman's place as an absolute master.

Watched Ice Age 2. It's one of my favourite animated films from all the time. The second part is comparable to first in the sense of the quality. It's full of humours, but sometimes a bit silly though. But anyway, I think it's worth watching (Y)

Wonder Boys

And to think that Russell Crowe beat out Douglas for best actor that year....WTF? One of his best performances in my opinion, man.....he probably got more praise for his performance in Traffic (which was solid, but not award worthy) than for this memorable and immense performance.

Anyway, awesome movie. Glad I finally got to see it.

That's been sitting on my DVD shelf for over a year now, for some reason I've never got round to watching it, but I will make the effort now (Y)

hmmm......I don't think that Douglas was even nominated that year....must be my faulty, Douglas. Sr-like memory at it again.

anyway, yeah. give it a go, bro. The supporting cast was ******* great.... robert downey jr, frances mcDormand, rip torn.......even Spidey and katie holmes, who I usually dislike and don't give two ****s about, were solid in their roles.

Tobey Maguire was in it I believe? I have never seen Spiderman but do like his other work, especially his superb supporting performance in the Good German, so he is another good reason to watch.

I am not a huge fan of Michael Douglas though, though I have to admit his performance in Wall Street was something special and he was great in Traffic too.
