so the Monaco dispute continues ... definitely don't want to see Monaco have to move from Monaco and lose their tax exemption status, but that is the sole reason why there is an issue with the Frenchies in the first place ... there was talk of a move to the Serie A ... I hope they stay in Ligue 1 because it makes historical sense, and a rivalry with PSG at home and in Europe would bring more prestige to the league ... but I would be lying if I denied secretly hoping that Lega Calcio are whispering in Monaco's ears about making a move ...

well, foregone conclusion or not, it's officially done in Ligue 1 ... another unconvincing performance that delivered another win, and the trophy ...

time for the speculation to go into full swing about next season, RE: PSG, Monaco, Hollande, and the what the rest of league can/will do ...

Last round tomorrow. All over for first two and last two sides, but plenty of action for the rest. PSG and Marseille have qualified for the CL group stages, Nancy and Brest have been relegated.

The third CL place and the one Europa League spot will have to be decided tomorrow:
3. Lyon 64 (CL)
4. ASSE 62 (EL)
5. Lille 61
6. Nice 61

Saint-Etienne will play Europa anyway, as they won the League Cup. But if they beat Lille tomorrow and when Lyon wont' beat Rennes at home, they'll get a chance at CL for the first time in 30 years.

The French Cup and the third EL spot will be played out between Bordeaux and Evian.

As for the relegation battle:

15. Evian 40
16. Ajaccio 40
17. Sochaux 40
18. Troyes 37 (R)

Evian and Ajaccio should be fine thanks to goal difference, but it Sochaux will have to avoid losing to Bastia to remain in L1 for the next season, even if Troyes should beat Valenciennes.

Coming up from Ligue 2 are Monaco, Guingamp and Nantes.

Fun fact: Monaco are a disgraceful piece of shit.

Their Stade Louis II has a capacity of 18 500, small stadium for a rich oil-dollar-club? But worry not! There's no need to expand or to build a new stadium - their average home attendance this season was just over 5000 per match, that gives them the 13th place in L2, and there's just 36 000 people living in Monaco anyway. So no one fucking cares, no one will.

Just thinking out loud here, what does that make these high profile players that will go there for the big paycheck?? :browsmiley:

I hope Monaco kicks ass. I for one find it exciting to see how quickly they'll ascend through the rankings since I watched them back when they had Rafa Marquez (obviously), Patrice Evra, Guily, Prso and Simeone and were winning shit.

What stadium did they have back then? Seems ridiculous tthat they'd reach the CL final in a 18k stadium.

It has to do with success too. Last year, the average attendance was actually below 5000. This year, fighting for promotion, it got a little better. During good the good years, they did almost sell out the stadium for later rounds of CL, but it has hardly been so in the league.

Did they fill it up at least?

For the CL games they did, the Ligue 1 games often had attendances of sub 10,000. The crazy thing is it wasn't like they were having a poor season either, they were fighting for the title.

Like clash said they have no need to expand because of their low population, it's not like they'll become more popular than PSG, L'OM or OL.

I know it might not be a popular opinion but I'm glad for this cash explosion in Ligue 1.

No, Margarita, lol.

Wouldn't be surprised if they'd end up in administration within next 2 years.
