I think SAF handed the number 7 to owen to give him a psychological boost. You know after all those injuries it must be tough mentally. Well...thats just one way to look at it.

As for Tevez.. it will be interesting to see what kind of reception he gets when he returns to OT.

HERES THE 100% CONFIRMATION of Owen being #7 ontop the first team page

so its no joke absolutely confirmed now

It will be the poorest-selling 7 shirt United has had.

It will be a standing ovation, if those present have any sense in their heads. That man gave everything he had for us when he was on the field.

He also talked a lot of sh*t about the club and SAF as well when he left.

EDIT: read this:
http://therepublikofmancunia.com/carlos-tevez-is-a-liar/

That's what Tevez said about Fergie in the past:

April 2nd 2009: “From the moment I arrived, he has treated me with respect as a person. His greatest quality is that, for him, there are no star players - everyone is equal, whether they cost many millions or are a young player who hasn’t played many times for the team. When I see him work he reminds me of Carlos Bianchi, who was my coach at Boca Juniors in Argentina. Both have had a big influence on my career, and both know how to treat people.“

January 4th 2009: “We have not started talks with Manchester United yet, though I am keen to stay. Sir Alex Ferguson has told me he wants me to remain a United player and that is certainly my desire too. My contract ends in the summer and we have agreed to sit down at the end of the season and discuss a new contract, nothing I have heard from the club suggests it will be otherwise. There is simply no reason to sit down now. I have a great relationship with Sir Alex and I hope that will continue long into the future.“

December 16th 2008: “We have been talking about it and everything is very advanced, as a consequence I think it will be sorted soon. I feel respected by my team-mates and by the staff.”

WTF Seriously I don't understand why he's reacting like that about Fergie now.

I'll always give credit to Tevez because of his energy and passion while he was at old trafford, the guy always gave his best.

But he wanted to be a first team player week in and week out in ManU while there were lots of other good players as well, this attitude and understanding is so wrong. I'm sure if he moved to Madrid, Barca or Inter, it was impossible for him to play more than his ManU era so he moved to City.

I think he wants to play in all possible matches with less pressure and competition so he ended up at the average team like Man City which is not even in euro league.

Who knows, things change I guess. If I remember correctly it was only a few weeks before leaving for Madrid that Ronaldo pledged his commitment to being a United player.

Tevez was one of my favorite United players, just because of his work ethic...he's just like Rooney in that regard, and you cannot help but root for a guy that works that hard for his team. I am sorely disappointed that he is gone, and Berbs is still with us.

I can honestly say that I hope that City beats us twice this coming season, both times behind Tevez goals, just to show SAF what we have lost.

The funny part is that with the likes of Santa Cruz, Robinho, now Adebayor possibly, Bellamy and Petrov, Tevez is going to have a hard time getting more games than he did with us.

You are one weird guy...go support City then if you hope that they beat us twice. Know your facts. SAF started offering him deals since January, he even approached Tevez to ask if he's happy with the terms being offered. Tevez gave no response whatsoever

do you blame Tevez? you sign him first year he was starter then they brought in berba**** which they didnt need and is a much crappier striker and tevez after ana amazing first season gets demoted to bench and rots wouldnt u be very pissed when u go froma fantastic season to bench warmer?

Tevez is mad and pissed at SAF and the clubs MANAGEMENT. He loves the united fans.

but when u get disrespected and unwanted like the United management have shown tevez you cant stay there. Cause hes a passionate guy and wants to play football and isnt it in for the money.

and the fans know he left united cause of his poor treatment by management not cause he doesnt like the club.

so i expect a mixed reaction when man utd man c derby comes.

Man you're so stupid. Fergie offered him a contract, he refused. Fergie's not at fault for losing him.

Fergie waited too long to offer Tevez the contract, that's the f*****g point you dope. SAF offering Tevez a contract in January, when Tevez was obviously already unhappy with his role at the club, was like shutting the barn door after the horses have already escaped. Too little, too late. Tevez was undoubtedly unhappy with his playing time...and who decides playing time? Who is the one person that Tevez could blame for his diminished role in the team?

Can you maybe think things through before you make stupid posts in the future?

I guess you need to consider the above also. SAF should have dealt with the Tevez situation before the season even started, not halfway through it. You and I, and everyone else here, have no way of knowing why Tevez acted the way he did and made the comments he made all along about being happy and respecting the team and SAF, only to change his story now. My theory is that he was unhappy all along but did not want to speak out against the team, or SAF, during the season because he did not want it to become a distraction, so as a sign of respect to his teammates he just went along with everything for the entire season and said nothing but good things and just tried to play his best when he got on the field.

Have you ever even considered this as a possibility? Have any of you ever even taken the time to really think about this entire situation, or have you all just taken everything at face value and assumed that the entire situation can be ascertained from only what the media has reported?

And I can still be a fan of United but also be a fan of our former players. I will support Tevez and Ronaldo for the rest of their careers, because they were both great players for our team and both of them helped us win trophies. However, I believe that we should have done more, SOONER, to make Tevez happy and get him to sign a contract SOONER, when he really wanted it, and because we failed to do that, I will root for him to beat us this coming season.

And I'll tell you another thing...I hope we draw Madrid in CL and I hope Ronaldo scores to knock us out, because I think we were idiots to sell him.

you want your favourite team to loose twice because of a certain player, I feel sorry for you. Tevez didn't want to fight for his place.

WHAT? What more could he have done? Every time he stepped foot onto the field wearing a United shirt he gave it everything he had, which is far more than I can say for Berbs.

I want Tevez to beat United because I feel like United wronged him. Yes, they are my favorite team and I support them both in victory and defeat, but that does not mean that I have to support every decision that management makes. I feel like management handled the situation poorly, and in this instance I would 'voice my opinion' by rooting for Tevez against us.
