Also, why would it hurt at all? He won. Loyalty in the NFL means even less than it does in soccer.

I took it as it must have hurt the Seahawks and their fanbase that the player they let go was huge in defeating them. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah, I meant for Seattle. Didn't know Maxwell took his spot, I thought he was the starter and Seattle just didn't want to pay him what he wanted (so they can pay Wagner, Sherman, Thomas and Wilson).

Yeah, he received a 4 game suspension at the end of the 2013 season right before the playoffs, which pretty much ended his season. So while technically he won back to back Super Bowls, he wasn't a part of the playoff run last year.

It is not a matter of the throw being good or not. It is simply not the right play to make.

I don't know much about the sport, but Skip, Shifty and Bobby have certainly convinced me otherwise and with sound logic and reasoning...Then you post this with no reasoning or thoughts as to why it wasn't the right play? I know who I think is right

Coach Deisler is right.

I totally get your reasoning and I'm just debating this from a completely noob, watch-like-3-games-per-year approach. I think they just ended up overthinking it. Occam's razor baby. If anything, I think I said it before, at least if they failed the disappointment wouldn't be so big, imo.

You should watch some college games next season if you get a chance. You'd probably like watching Les Miles (LSU) coach. He's crazy as hell (plus he eats grass off the field).

Because they have a tv deal with NBC, which is theirs to keep.

If they were to join a conference they would have to give the conference a share of that revenue.

It has something to do with being able to recruit all over the country and by joining a conference they would be pigeonholed into being able to only recruit a certain area.

Pretty much. That deal pays them a truckload.

They sort of are in a conference though, they have a "scheduling agreement" with the ACC where they play five ACC teams a year (Notre Dame also has access to Bowls with ACC tie-ins). Notre Dame is a full member of the ACC for sports other than football.

Not really. He can either go outside the tackles are through the middle and with 8 players on the line it's not that hard to stop him any way he decides to go. Case in point, he hadn't converted a single TD from the yard line.

I don't understand why there's still controversy regarding this. Patriots sold out on the run; Seahawks decided to take a chance and pass. When Wilson threw the pass Lockette looked open, Butler made a tremendous read and reacted. You could argue that play action would have been really effective, but they were doing a timing rub route, so that might have not worked with the route combo.

The World Championship is this summer. Sweden was supposed to host but couldn't raise the money so it's in Canton, Ohio at the Hall of Fame instead. To make it more competitive US players must meet some really strict requirements (can't be professional, must have graduated from college, can't be more than one year removed from college). Canada sends a weakened team too but that's because the CFL season overlaps the World Championships.

Group A features the traditionally strong teams and three of them advance to the semi-finals: USA, Canada, Mexico, Japan.

Group B features developing football countries and one team advances: Australia, Brazil, France, South Korea.

I'm still waiting for the NFL to come down on the Patriots for their balls.

If the league does nothing, then they are condoning cheating.

Go Australia!!! Silly to have a "World Championship" without the best players though.

At least in Rugby League and Rugby Union the other nations pay our full strength team, and we just thrash them :D
