The percentages are for the popular vote.

I'm with ShiftyPowers on this one, and so is Socrates:

Socrates believed that democracy was a flawed system because it left the state in the hands of the unenlightened and it valued all opinions as equal.

This is the system they are trying to force upon the Middle East, and they wonder what the resistance is about (:/)

What a gutting result. Everywhere I look the left is getting killed, face it, the left needs politicians with balls.

Hilary Clinton 2008!

It's not over until the provisional ballots in Ohio are deemed legitimate and then counted, a process which could take up to 11 days.

Expect this to drag on.

Democracy doesn't work when the vote of some illiterate hick counts the same as a lawyer or political science professor who spend their entire careers analyzing this stuff regardless of who votes for whom. Even if it was the professors voting Bush and the hicks voting Kerry, it doesn't matter, democracy is a great idea, but not for a backwater, borderline retarded country.

Wow, you're cranky too!

The people you are railing against mostly vote for Democrats, so I don't know why you are so pissed. But you kind of admitted that.

They've been getting killed for years... There are quite a few reasons for that as well.

1. Americans like money, and aspire to have money. When the left comes out and attacks the "rich" and wants to tax them, many lower and middle class people are having their future dreams and aspirations attacked.

2. America is a very religous country. Democrats are just full of **** when it comes to religion. People like Brondby bitch about Bush being religous but ignore when Kerry actually campaigns IN a church. It's just hypocritical.

3. The left usually counts on the black and minority vote. That is slowly changing. The slaves are leaving the plantation... finally.

4. They nominated John Kerry... this whole election was never about John Kerry vs. George Bush, but how much the left "hated" George Bush. Kerry never had a solid position on ANY issue, and if you argue otherwise you were never paying attention. I can't tell you how many people who call themsleves democrats that I met wouldn't vote for Kerry this election because they thought he was a liar and/or an asshole.

5. Abortion... America isn't a country who likes abortion, no matter what the media tells you.

6. Americans also don't really like government to be in every part of thier lives... The democratic party wants to control ALL aspects of your life.

7. Democrats love to talk down to you, and don't give you much hope for a bright future. As much as people will say that Zel Miller is a sellout, he is exactly right about why democrats keep losing.

Anyway, just a few things that I think of when trying to figure out why the "left" keeps losing in this country. You can call us stupid or whatever, but i seem to remember a certain British newspaper coming over to Ohio to interfere in our election. That probably pissed a few people off as well...

PS. Bush is going to win the largest popular vote in history. More than Ronald Reagan, a hell of a lot more than Bill Clinton, and more than Al Gore.

1 - lower and middle classes will have a harder time reaching the upper classes with the kind of taxes Bush proposes. Therefore that's plain stupidity.

2 - campaining in a church or whatever is very different than having the conviction that you have a god given right to do rule America as you want, regardless of the negative effects it has internally and externally. This is Bush for you, he rules by instinct and based on his scrict beliefs, not with his head.

3 - Hmm how would you explain the incidents that occured in 2000 then?

4 - The flip flopper thingie the Republicans invented worked as a charm. Arguing he voted for the war of Iraq in the congress, where they forget to mention that had he voted against it at that time he would blow right there his chance to be candidate.

5 - It's not a matter of liking or not, no one is forcing abortion, it's just a human right to choose and to deny that right is to diminuish one's freedom. But I guess you're right, apart from the educated people in both coasts, the interior of the country is just too damn conservative to even think about it, as the church condemns it.

6 - Hmmm... Patriot Act... anyone? People being questioned by the secret services because someone told they were making anti-Bush comments within friends. Is that freedom?

7 - It's called being realistic, but yeah I guess they should start lying with every teeth if they want to win the next elections.

1. Less taxes for everyone, no matter how much money you make is a GOOD thing. You are the perfect example of why the left will continue to lose. You like to tax people...

2. Bush has beliefs... you might not agree with them, but that is what separated him from Kerry. He actually had beliefs! Kerry had a different belief for whichever group he was talking to.

3. Wait to see the numbers this time around, I know blacks will still vote in a landslide for democrats, but I bet the gap closes a little. And even if closes 10 percent, that's huge.

4. The flip flopper thing was accurate. Those of you who never saw it must have been blind. It just proves my point that this was never about Kerry, but all about the hatred for Bush. I am actually shocked that Kerry, with his flip flops, could get as many votes as he did. You can thank the media for not asking the tough questions. You can also blame Kerry for never giving press conferences, or granting interviews that would ask him tough questions.

5. Another mistake of the left... you just claimed that only "Educated" people live on the coasts. Which is exactly why the middle of the country keeps voting your side out of office. They are very educated, and just because they don't believe that abortion is a good thing, doesn't make them "uneducated." This goes hand in hand with the "talking down to people" that the left likes to do. You ever understand why liberals are called "elitists"?

6. People get harassed by the government no matter who the president is if they start making comments about a sitting President.

7. Zel Miller didn't lie, he told it straight up and it hurt. That's why the left doesn't like him anymore.

DASCHLE IS OUT!!! Just about all my predictions came true.

Elder just to clarify, I'm not on either side, actually I wouldn't give a rat's ass who won these elections if it didn't affect the rest of the world so damn much. I usually vote left here but in the small parties who need my vote more than the big ones.

On abortion, I am very aware of this subject because Portugal is one of the two countries of the whole European Union where abortion is a crime. I don't think there is one person in America that thinks abortion is a good thing. It's just necessary as a last resort. You may turn Abortion into a crime but it will be made anyway because the problems won't go away, making it illegal is just a way to overlook the problems. Instead they will be made with less medical care which may lead to serious injury on the women and even death.

Yes the interior of your country is too tied to religion. Can't you see that's a bad thing? I mean I'm a pure atheist but I'm ok with people having a religion mainly to feel balanced and ok with themselves if they need to... I just think it's repulsive the thought of having religion control people's lives and thoughts, and that's exactly what happens in America. People just don't know where to draw the lines, and it saddens me that with these results it seems that America is heading backwards in this subject.

The other day they were showing an interview with a Texas farmer where he was asked what did he think about the Iraq invasion and he said: I think that was a good thing... I mean Saddam sent two planes crashing into our towers, we had to get some payback and kill a whole lot of them Iraqis.

ShiftyPowers is right... democracy in it's current state doesn't work with this kind of people. That guy's vote is worth as much as a political science graduate.

One of the saddest events happened in my state. We re-elected a freaking US senator who admitted on televison that he did not read newspapers, did not watch national news, and he got all his information from Fox News. The freaking idiot didn't even know that there was a national guard unit in Iraq that refused to complete an order due to security concerns. This senator also accused his opponent two weeks before the election of assaulting his wife at a political rally three months earlier. To top it all off, he called in most of his Republican cronies and had them accuse his opponent of being gay. All I can is **** you Jim Bunning, **** you state of Kentucky, and **** this country.

That's cute, but Democrats are the people who controlled those areas of the country during Slavery. It's about time they were all turned out of office...

Goddamit, I hate having to go to school :f***: It was 252-250 in Bush's favour when I went, just starting to get really interesting!

I am actually very surprised, Bush did even better than I expected. I thought the high voter turn-out would favour Kerry but apparently not. Is it all completely done and dusted now? I heard Kerry still had a chance if they re-evaluated pending-votes in Ohio or something, but if he's conceded I guess it's all over.
