Well, Bush appears to not only have won the election, but is the first president since his father in 88 to have gotten over 50% of the popular vote. This definitely caught me off guard, but I think I underestimated how stupid Americans are. I don't think I can ever have faith in the common American ever again. I sold out my beliefs to vote for a major party candidate in the election only to realize that the stupidity of America will always be a hinderance to a good form of government.

Democracy doesn't work when the vote of some illiterate hick counts the same as a lawyer or political science professor who spend their entire careers analyzing this stuff regardless of who votes for whom. Even if it was the professors voting Bush and the hicks voting Kerry, it doesn't matter, democracy is a great idea, but not for a backwater, borderline retarded country.

I love the principles on which this country was founded on, and I love the theory of democracy, but I'm pretty close to packing up and moving to a nation that pays more attention to ideas and results than if a candidate seems like a guy you can just have a beer with. **** America, **** political parties, **** democracy, and most especially, **** George W. Bush.

ShiftyPowers for Philosopher King

I'm going to save this to my hard-drive. You summed up exactly how I as a Brit feel about the entire thing.

It's a sad day for American politics. When you reject a man who'll change his policies to fit the needs of the populus in favour of a man who picks on people smaller than him, you know you're country's in for a right f**king.

On the plus side, I bet Tony's pleased.
On the down side, I bet the Armed Forces aren't.
On the plus side, we get 4 more years of Bushisms.
On the down side, we get 4 more years of Bush.

Seriously, America's pride has kicked in again and it'll be the people who suffer.

Warfare or Healthcare? Who'd have thunk it?

Wow, when you have two usually very patriotic (like ShiftyPowers and caponedawg, at least in my opinion) saying sh!t like that about their own country, you know the situation's pretty fu*ked. :(

I'm not a politics junkie, but I thought majority of Americans would've wanted Bush Jr. out. This is all surprising to me that he won again, after all he has done, and considering how the American and the rest of the world were on his back constantly with his so called "War on Terror". I would've thought they wanted change, but whatever.

The rest of the world is just left to wonder now, which country needs to be freed next, or is housing WMDs.

:(

Well, it could be worse.... tomorrow's vote on the North-East Referendum could result in a win for the Yes campaign.

I am actually very surprised, Bush did even better than I expected. I thought the high voter turn-out would favour Kerry but apparently not. Is it all completely done and dusted now? I heard Kerry still had a chance if they re-evaluated pending-votes in Ohio or something, but if he's conceded I guess it's all over.

Didn't you see my prediction that Bush would do better than anyone thought? Never trust the liberal media in this country... in one way they wanted Bush defeated, and in another way, they NEEDED the race close so that people would pay attention and watch TV.

Guess you don't know much... It was Kerry being FOR every position and having none of his own that wiped him out. He didn't have any core beliefs...

Tony probably is pleased. The armed forces voted for Bush overwhelmingly, Bushisms are fun.

Don't know how America's pride has been "kicked in." They didn't vote for Kerry, plain and simple.

I'm talking about Britain's military. The military that's been essentially brought in as a human shield for the US.

Oh, yes... Bushism's are fun.

Help?

I knew Bush would win. Kerry is just not smart enough to beat Bush (not in intelligence kind of way).

That's cute, but Democrats are the people who controlled those areas of the country during Slavery. It's about time they were all turned out of office...

Way to miss the point there Elder.
The label applied to the politics of those states(Democrat, Republican, KKK)is of no consequence, the point is they're still the undereducated, fundamentalist "believers" they were over a 100 years ago.

You've highlighted the exact problem with your "us and them" society. Present someone with an idea/problem and it immediately gets turned into a binary. Is it Good/Evil, Right/Wrong, Republicans fault / Democrats fault?
Whatever it is, somethings up! Time for a lynching!

I wouldn't give a **** if it was just your country that was going to go down the drain. But its not. Bush and his self serving advisors/puppet masters are fully capable of bringing about another worldwide depression. Which, of course, suits the ruling classes just fine.

Confirmed: Too much American food kills neurons.

Americans (51% of them) really live in their own world ignoring the rest of the planet.

LOL I guess so. From a British perspective, I suppose this is pretty good, Bush is obviously keen on the alliance between our two countries and obviously thinks alot of blair, and hey, the friendlier we are with America, the less friendly we have to be with Europe. I have to admit I was quite impressed with Bush and Blairs handling of Iraq (not so much Afganistan but we'll let that pass) and I think he seems to have a fairly good command of foreign policies.

Besides, no more Bush means no more hillarious anti-Bush books and docufilms :D

While he's not great, I am convinced that Kerry would have been just as bad, and hey, stick with the devil you know :p

Make America Great Again
The reason Bush won, and the reason we'll have 16 more years of Reepublican control has a little to do with Elder said, but even more to do with the Baby Boom. A bunch of 50 year olds who were 20 somethings during the Reagan years. There's just too many of them.
