Well.......bad news and good news I guess
Bad is that we lost the semi-final for the Dutch Amstelcup against Willem II.
Ajax was much stronger and had many chances but they all missed them. For open goal on the crossbar, Charisteas was very close with his header but it was turned on the line, same goes for Pienaar (turned again). Babel was close, de Jong was very close but that's all! They just couldn't score where Willem II only scored one goal due to bad defending from Ajax I might add
and Mitea missed the goal for OPEN GOAL WTFFF, hit the crossbar unbelievable
what a bad luck, the goalkeeper was already beaten.
More bad news and even worse is that Maxwell has badly injured his knee, predictions are that he can't play for months!! He jumped and landed wrong on the pitch, Pienaar was also limping a lot during the interval but played untill the end.
More bad news is that Trabelsi refused the offer from Ajax and Arsenal and Newcastle are determined to convince him to play in the Premier League but with Arsenal he has to compete with Lauren and Trabelsi wants to play all the time.
Then a bit of good news I guess:
Ajax are looking to persuade Dennis Bergkamp to extend his career, should the Dutch master fail to secure a new deal at Arsenal.
Bergkamp is in the twilight of his career and has yet to secure a fresh contract with Arsenal - which would make him a free agent in the summer should no agreement be found.
Amsterdam titans Ajax have been monitoring the situation with interest for a number of weeks and are ready to step in with a one-year contract for their former star.
Ajax chief Danny Blind spent six seasons in the same team as Bergkamp in Amsterdam and is fully aware of the forward's supreme talents.
Blind feels his young Ajax side would derive great benefit from working alongside a player of Bergkamp's calibre and stature in the game and is ready to pull out all the stops to bring the 35-year-old back to Amsterdam.
Bergkamp has previously stated that he would retire at the end of the season if he failed to thrash out fresh terms and his agent has reaffirmed this stance.
"If Dennis does not receive another contract from Arsenal, he will retire immediately," said the player's agent Rob Jansen.
However, reports are suggesting Bergkamp is attracted to the possibility of working with Blind and aiding the club where he forged his name and will consider any offer closely should Arsenal end the contract with him.
Now that would be fantastic, indeed he is a great player but his experience is very important as well for the young players. I say bring him back and appoint Dennis to captain.
A bit more good news is that Charisteas is back from injury and when he came on the pitch yesterday he was dangerous immediately and Galasek will be back anytime now.
Ajax is now in 2nd place due to the loss from AZ against Utrecht, let's hope we can hold this position but without Maxwell......
Somehow I think that Maxwell played his last match for Ajax yesterday, what a way to go
Thanx for everything Maxwell, you are a legend in my book!
