Nice, what are the specs?

I just got the base model for now, will probably upgrade the RAM and HD eventually. It'll be good enough for what I need it for, just something small and portable to take on the road (sometimes I gotta be out of town for a few days for work) to send email, surf the web, store digital photos, MP3's, etc..

anyhow, these are the specs:

1.33GHz PowerPC G4
512K L2 cache @1.33GHz
512MB memory (DDR333 SDRAM)
12.1-inch TFT Display
1024x768 resolution
ATI Mobility Radeon 9550
32MB DDR video memory
40GB Ultra ATA hard drive
Combo Drive (DVD-ROM/CD-RW)
Built-in AirPort Extreme
Built-in Bluetooth 2.0+EDR
Scrolling Trackpad
Sudden Motion Sensor

Holy Crap Apple is fast with their shipping, the Fed Ex guy just dropped off my new iBook about an hour ago, and I'd just ordered it in the last few days! Great first impressions so far, I love the portabilty, the weight and size are great on the 12" model. I was a bit concerned about how it would perform with just the base 512 ram, but it's zipping along really quick, I just plugged in the ethernet cable and I was up and running on the internet, no problems... I can already see that this GarageBand program that it comes with is gonna take up a lot of my free time :jap:

Anyhow, as promised here's the photo along with my other two babies (well, technically the shuffle is the spouse's)

Nice piece of electronic equipment, man. (Y)
Make sure you report back in a month's time. That's usually the critical period for me to understand if I made a good investment or not. I'd like to know your opinion then.

Nice touch with the books, btw. One always look intelligent when books are in the picture. (H)

Well, they say if any electronics are gonna fail, they'll likely do it withing the first week, so we'll see. I'm not expecting too much from it though, I won't be doing any major work on it since the CAD program I use for work is only made for PC. This is more of a travel thing for email and stuff, and ofcourse for surfing the net while I'm sitting on the couch watching TV because I'm planning on destroying my eyeballs in 2-3 years, don't ya know..

the books, ah those are just decoration man. The pages are actually just filled with recipes and dirty hand-drawn pictures!

Any of you have the Car Adaptors for the Ipods? Im looking to get the Sony cassette adaptor instead of the Itrip as i hear the Itrip gets frequently interfered with other radio signals.

Heheh.

I wasn't referring that much to the electronic failure side of it, though, but more to the personal need of that investment. I mean, usually after a month I tend to think to myself 'why did I buy this crap? Don't really need it'. At least that's what I thought when I bought that 25cm dildo.

hehe, you gotta buy dildos made in Japan dude.. but yeah, I knew what you meant eventually. Oh I'm sure I'll get that "why did I buy this" feeling, I always do. Or before hand I think "man I'm gonna get so much use out of this" then two weeks later it's gathering dust

Don't think it'll happen in this case though, mainly cause the wife will end up using it more than I do. She goes out of town a lot for work too, so it's all good.

Very nice, Luis (Y). I currently have a Sony Vaio TR series 1.1Ghz Centrino notebook but was thinking of changing soon to either a 14" iBook or the 15" PowerBook, so let me know how you get on.

well, so far so good man! I'm loving the Mac OSX, everything's so simple and headache-free, it's actually kinda fun to use. Probably the hardest thing to get used is actually just how simple it is, I'm used to everything in Windows taking a few steps to accomplish, while here in 1 click I'm done.

I've got to buy a laptop for college this year, I'm thinking of getting the 15" Powerbook (iBook might not be good enough since I'll be running some heavy apps like Photoshop, Illustrator, Final Cut etc.). Downside is that it's a bit expensive but Apple do give student discount and the Powerbook has a backlight keyboard, how ******* awesome is that!?

What's the new Tiger OSX like, Luis? I heard it was "absolutely brilliant".

yeah, Tiger is definatly impressive. I played around a bit with Panther before and Tiger is basically the same, but it does have quite a few little new features here and there that are really nice. I really like Dashboard, I find myself constantly on searches for new widgets :D
