hey guys... i got another question for you.

I just recently got my mp3 player. Its a iriver h10 5 gb. However when i tried to install it on my system, it wouldn't work. When i plugged it in to the usb port it would give me an option to install it. however when i tried to install the player, it would search it and not find it. I installed the software that came on the cd already (and all that was was windows media player 10) I got a message i think where it said i had plugged a high speed usb cable into a non high speed usb port. I think the problem is that i have a usb 1.something and it requires a usb port of 2.0. Does anyone know if this could be the problem? And if so how would i solve it (cheaply). I thought i'd ask it here because i got such great replies last time. any help would be greatly appreciated.
don't think the USB port is the problem. i got my ipod to work with the old USB just fine.

I do :D i take it youre talking about the new Video one. The quality is great and with a bit of tinkering using the right programs you can transfer most videos, the only thing is that the battery life is about 2 hours while playing videos with the 30gig its abit longer with the 60 gig but yeh. There arent really any good cases available for it and all the old Ipod Accesries that used the remote port (what ever you call it) dont work with the new ipod

What sort of "tinkering"? What movie types can't you put on it?

Mm, 2 hours when watching videos? Really? That sucks, are there any external batteries you can buy?

Other than that, since I haven't had an iPod before, I don't have any of the old accessories so I'm in the clear for that problem.

Hmm - only problems as far as I can see are battery life and transferring certain file types onto it.

The only tinkering u need to do is download Videora and use it to convert the videos u want, it takes a couple mins per video.

Well, I wanna buy an Ipod. Initially i was thinking of going for the nano 4gb ipod, but then after i realized that my mp3 collection is around 8gb I started doubting about it..Then I saw the price of the new 30 GB video ipod and realized the price difference was only $50, and now im not sure if it's worth paying 50 more bucks for it...

Im most likely to carry my ipod everywhere (school,clubs,etc..) and im afraid the video ipod might be too big...also in my opinion i wont be watching too many videos on it..the only thing is that 4GB in the nano ipod is just too little!

Any suggestions?

How about the iriver H10? 20GB

Just don't buy anything from Creative. It defects easily.

Personally I love my iPod, and it's an older 20gb non-colour. No complaints...

I dunno about the nano though man, it's pretty slick looking but kinda fragile from what I hear. I don't think I'd want one if I was gonna do any kinda excercise while wearing it. Those new Sony walkmans are nice, and they look durable from what I've seen.

I got a Nano and it's fine... you just need to get a slim case for it to prevent scratching, like me, I bought a silicone case plus armband (for gyms/running) for a penny plus 7 bucks shipping.
