Putting it on the site would be sensible, however as we all know EA Sports are not very sensible which is why we have to try and use their stupid wee thing instead.
I've e-mailed tech support and asked how to solve the problem, saying I've already re installed the game once and nothing changed. Odds on the response being re install it?

if you have freeserve or any other proxy based isp it wont work and if you have windows xp's firewall activated it wont work and also if you use internet connect sharing programs like wingate or browseshare it wont work, and even if you have a simpel firewall on your pc it wont work.
OH yeh and if ea mi*** the cds and some people liek me havent even got eacom on there cd.,.....
oh and merry xmas everyone

It took 2 seconds, and it hasn't changed anything!! I have windows XP and I disabled the firewall especially. I have an NTL world connection (also a freeserve connection and it failed) why can't I download it??

I have Freeserve which is probably the problem. However I don't remember seeing on the box of FIFA that minimum requirements are an ISP that works with our servers.
I cannot download it too........it least for 1 sec. then nothing happened. The version still 414....
I want to send a e-mail to EA for about this problem , but they are very trouble, it seems that they don't want us to send e-mail to them......totally disappointed with EA....

HEY PEOPLE, try this:
Go Start > Program Files > EA Sports > Check for update then instead of clicking the check for update icon RIGHT click it and go to propierties, once there copy the "Target" and now go to a MS-DOS prompt and paste that (with the little button on the MS-DOS prompt and now you will see the program connects and everything
I have no idea if this works for the update, but at least the program connects and downloads something...

I was trying to download this patch without knowing what is did, having now got round to following the link from www.fifa2002.com I have discovered that at the top of the page it says win95/98!! Does this mean that the reason that it won't download is to do with the fact that I am using XP?? Will I have to wait in hope that EA make an XP version before it will allow me to download the update??

wonna see something REALLY weird ?
I started downloading the Patch more than an hour ago, although I have a fast DSL-connection it shows me still more than 2 hours left....
slow server ? not at all !
I found a CACHE-folder with the downloaded files inside:
231 folders with 120MB of data !!!!!
NO JOKE! Its still loadin...must be WC2002 with all stadiums and chants and stuff, maybe they copied the FX-engine

Nope Dirlewanger, I'm Dutch, but I know a good player when I see one! The Scottish national teams of the late 70's and early 80's were my favourites, and I have been a Liverpool supporter as long as I can remember. Hence the name.....

Same thing happens to me aswell.. lasts for like a sec and thats it.. nothing appears to have changed.
Well this is what i have come to expect from EA, their support for the fifa series in general is poor.. maybe they should hire some of the great patch makers from the fifa community to show em how its done.. EA get with it.

for those running win2k, you need to right mouse click "check for update" and then go to properties.
click the compatability tab, and check "run compatability mode in" and select "windows 98 compatability"
and check for update.
if this doesn't work, you need to change destination folder of the update (someone mentioned this before, by changing a line in the target line in the properties of "check of update")
and do the step i mentioned above. took me 45 mins to dl the whole thing.
i hope this help to some extent.

Yea! i tried the msdos prompt trick & it worked!!! Those who cant get it to work should try it. It's still downloading now

i finished downloading it, but it seemed to nothing....??? the formation bug is still there. What improvements can you see after installing the patch?

WHat is the shortcut to be shrotened to so i can give it a go? I use WIndows ME if that affects anything.
