Oh my, EA have worked the players over once again, and as usuall they have delivered nothing but more problems, what a sad and sick #$@#$%# joke on thier part, perhaps it is now time to totaly forget about them and try out the other footballing options that can be had by either direct console gameplay or emulated gameplay via the pc .. enough is enough .. Yes, you can download something, over 500mb!After changing the path!
But the problem is:the bugs do not fixed at all after install the patch(it will install automatically after download).
It's there anyone that the patch can work fine?That is the bugs were fixed!Please reply here!

Yes, I have downloaded something(over500mb) with the method that change the target. However, after install, it just unzip the files into a copy of FIFA2002. When I playing the game, the formation bug do not fixed at all!
I have try the MS-DOS prompt method but it cannot download anything!!!
It's there anything I have done wrong?

Somebody asked earlier on this very same thread what he was doing wrong. The answer might be one of these:

1) Not downloading an emulator and playing ISS/WE
2) Not buying a PS2 and playing PES/WE5
3) Not erasing FIFA the hell out of your hard drive

back to the headlines:
The update is just another funny joke by EAsports.
Of course you CAN download the WHOLE game !
Not only that, with a little change to the download command (copy it into DOS-command-line like Hiryuu already mentioned) you can download ALL Full versions of Fifa2002 !

You need a fast internet connection and some free diskspace.
When you use FifaFX this is a nice service by EAsports, as you now can get all foreign language commentaries that can be individual assigned to the teams by FifaFX.

After downloading about 2 GB and deleting the useless files, now I have these commentaries:

German (my original version)
English
Spanish
French
Portuguese
Italian
Korean

All in all 1.5 GB commentary files
Together with other FifaFX-stadiums, additional leagues and patches its a 2.5 GB Fifa2002 -directory

btw:
I experienced no changes within the game yet, comparing the downloaded files with the original program only shows differences in some dll-files in Fifa2002 main-directory

Nevertherless: THX EA for being so stupid sometimes...

EA know that how poor their game is, so they let other downloading the FIFA2002 for free!
I have emulator and play ISS before, it is a great game compare with FIFA series, the only advantage of FIFA over the ISS is the grapic, and can work on computer without the emulator!
But is there any method to solve my problems?

i just d/l the patch and it seems to have fixed one of the bugs (the formation but i only tried 1 formation) however for some reason the fonts during the game for the menu and players names seem HUGE! has this happened to anyone else?

i only tried it with a friendly with England and Brazil and i just tried the game with my season Leeds and the formation bug is still there the only difference is the fonts looks stupid and the screen seems distorted

First of all, thank you for your reply, taurean519 !
I think EA always doing something that annoying people!
I have tried some method to ask about this problem, for example sending e-mail to the technical support team, but they just use auto reply,i.e. reply with a article just solving some general problems.
The best method to solve the problem is the web owner reflect it to EA!
OR , it's there anyone can solve this problem, please post here!


I am now hesitate whether I should buy the next version of FIFA or not!!!

What part of the path did you change to get the other versions of the game? My guess is it is the tag after the FIFA_2002/ section.

Also, my DOS prompt does not allow me to copy the entire path. It cuts off in the middle of my specified directory.

Any ideas?

my download only lasteed for a fraction of a second and i experimetn with using wingers in the game and the same old problems reocurred. anybody else experience this?!

well, I run Windows XP and when I try to launch the updater it opens a dialog with some weird signs in it, seems like an error and thats it.

I wish EA would just release a patch file which you can download and so manually install updates.

Well, EA sport don't know how to make a "patch"!
They just repeat doing something wrong. At present, I still no idea how to make the patch work.

Have EA fixed the problem with the Sidewinder gamepad? I bought the game a couple of months ago and I am still unable to play it because the game won't store when i re-assign the buttons on my gamepad. I don't care about formations and multiplayer etc, I JUST WAN'T TO BE ABLE TO PLAY THER GAME!!!

i got a 56k modem, and from SA (bloddy slow) and it took me under a minute to update, altho i haven't tried to play FIFA to see if the patch worked, so wots this thing about a 500mb patch?

I think that EAs behaviour is simply appaling especially after the amount of loyal EA Sport fans (like me) who continue to purchase their games.

Fifa2002 is riddled with bugs.....its almost as if they didnt even test it......they put the code there, they had a nice little party after everything compiled without any syntax errors, and then shoved the CD in lots of boxes and shipped em out.....

This is no way to treat the people who have always played their games, and this so called *ahem* "patch" is the icing on the cake of their stupidity.

It would be awesome if a very well known computer magazine did a nice big article on how EA has , without remorse,
F U C K E D around with their fans...nothing would make my christmas more happy than for the entire world gaming community - especially those who dont know what us FIFA X fans go through - to read about what a useless company EA is. Nothing would make me happier than to see them lose A LOT of respect - not just from fans of the FIFA series - but from the computer gaming industry in general - from the fans all the way up to the developers....
