2 awesome games in one day all from the same cup. The 3rd place match was a thriller, with Germany scoring and Mexico/Borgetti finding a way to come back. I thought it would go to penalties but Germany held out and I was really impressed with their play. Their defence may need work but they played really well in attack. Will they make the finals again next year though? I'm not so sure, but with them being the host nation I expect them to go far.

And then there was the final. Absolutely brilliant play by Brazil. Or perhaps it was a total melt down by Argentina? Once Brazil scored 2 quick ones I knew it was over, unless Argentina pulled a miracle and came back early in the 2nd half. Well Brazil ended up scoring early and you all know the rest. Great play by Adriano and Ronaldinho especially who were fantastic. Kaka also had a splendiferous goal. Simply "shocking" like Max Bretos always says.

I really enjoyed the cup, and like they were saying at the end it was undoubtably the best Confederations Cup of all time. They're were 56 goals between 8 nations. Wow, that's a lot of goals.

Hopefully the Worldcup can take it up a notch and simply blow us all away with goals, great play, and jaw-dropping action. I can't wait. :rockman:

Im so sad...

I dont like losing against Brazil, becous I know we can beat them...

I dont car if this tournament is imprtant or not...i want to win against brazil even a friendly match on the beach with my friends...becouse its a classic...

The way to win against brazil its scoring first...thats it. Becouse the play their best football with spaces on the pitch.

Its true we missed Ayala, Crespo, Mascherano, Lucho, etc...but, our strengh always was our team work, and our pressicion with passes, not our individuals.

We dont have to dribble all the defenders to score...

Congrats Brazil, i hope we will meet again in the world cup.

This result has something possitive, lets hope Pekerman learn from his mistakes.

I still think we can beat brazil any time...

I hear alot of Riquelme's name...

...when he was receiving his 2nd place medal, and taking off. Then I hear his name when he had to take a picture with Adriano. So yes, I DID hear his name. (H)

Argentina didn't get call 2 penalties the first one when we were 2-0 down, Ronaldinho should've been sent off way before Coliccini, plus in the first goal Brazil recovered the ball thanks to the referee for not calling a foul on Riquelme, and when he stopped Aimar's run for a foul made by Kaká he should've shown the yellow card. However most of the blame goes to Pekerman rather than the lousy slovak.
I still think the the score lies.

Come on, why the sour grapes? you know how to win as you clearly demonstrated in the Qualifier thread but when it comes to losing it's ref this, Pekerman that, it doesn't matter because it's a mickey mouse tournament... ok, it doesn't matter but did you want to lose? did the players want to go down 4-1 to Brazil? I'm sure they didn't, and neither did you... excuses, excuses... fact, Brazil won 4-1, just like Argentina won 3-1 earlier...

Back in the qualifiers the referee did some bad calls, but it wasn't anything serious. However the referee doesn't call 2 penalties and helps Brazil to get the first goal. And about Pekerman, in the qualifiers he didn't go to "test" players like Placente and Bernardi that who knows why were called up even.

Lets put aleast a little biased discussion into this, first of all any game between Argentina and Brasil matter wheter it be wcq, copa america, any other tournament it's a classic. Now the arguement between we beat them a month a go with our first squad, it is a biased comment because you fail to mention you were playing in Buenos Aires in River's stadium. I do think Pekerman blew it but hey whats there to do now.

Brasil Vs. Argentina es un Classico cualquier cosa puede pasar.

oh well.. I guess it wasn't anything serious because Argentina won? come on, blaming the ref wont hide the fact that your best player Riquelme went missing for most of the match, the fact that Lux sux (Copyright INFESTA) if excuses make you feel better, then do it, it's fine and makes the pain go away for a while... but in the end I think even though the match was pretty even, Brazil had the edge

What about not sending of fuc.king Coloccini and Placente?
We also had a penalty, so his shi.tyness was pretty even

The point is that we were a lot better and could have scored more goals.
Blaming the ref won't make you guys look better

WE WON!!!
AND WE RAPED ARGENTINA!!!
:hump: :hump:

I don't know about much better, but better yes....with a lot of luck, yes....By this I am not saying that Brasil did not deserve to win, because they did, but we can't say as well that Brasil has played that much better than Argentina. They just managed to convert two quick goals (Lux could have stopped at least one) and then Argentina was devastated mentally and had to go and try to win with everything they had which left a lot of SPACE open in the back for Brasil to counter-attack, and so came goals 3 and 4....

Anyways, at least we beat Brasil yesterday...I guess we are tied...

I do think Riquelme was a bit off, but in Argentina the referee didn't benefit either both teams, now this slovak made bad calls for both and at some point ended up being bad for Argentina, though yeah it's not the referee who makes the goals but still. However i still think the real deal will be playing against Brazil in the world cup, hopefully in the final, though i wanted Argentina to win this one.

PS: Congrats anyway, let's meet again in the world cup, hopefully in the final.:rockman:

The setup to Adriano's second goal has got to go down as one of the greatest of all time, man. They toyed and mocked the entire Argentine team for like 2-3mins before a beautiful cross to Adriano was kicked into the box and he delivered that mercy blow that the argies were all begging for.

I'm not gonna try to question what Mascherano, Gonzales, ayala, and Crespo mean to the senior squad, but tonight's outing was a total embarrassment for the Argentines. There's no way in hell that you could ever convince me that the outcome was the way it was solely because of squad selection or the ref's decisions. The 4-1 scoreline was a flattering and misleading result more so for the Argentines rather than the Brazilians. The Argies just simply got slaughtered on just about every facet of the game today.

Pure and total ownage, man.

Brasil simply converted their opportunities and had the good fortune of stepping up with two quick goals....Argentina played the same game they have been playing throughout the confederations cup. It was no own, just that the Brasilians scored on their opportunities. Argentina could have scored three today, but they blew them. One for Figueroa and the other for Coloccini...

Cool. Blown chances shouldn't count, though, because Brazil squandered just as many opportunities if not more. They killed you guys both from normal play and especially on the counter. There was a period of 5-10mins where they completely shutdown shop and weren't even interested in creating offensive situations but rather just retaining the ball and taking minutes off the clock.

Rip Hamilton, the guy with a mask? Why is that....I think Argentina lost track after the first goal of Adriano. Argentina was dominating before Adriano struck the first goal, which I believe to be an incredible goal nonetheless, and that hurt Argentina mentally. And for me, just like they say in Basketball, the second goal by Kaka was the dagger. A 2 to 0 loss in the finals, with that much pressure, and basically one half remaining puts you at a big disadvantage. Some might think other-wise, but those two first goals did not come out of Brasil playing better then Argentina, those goals came out of two great shots. Like I said before, once Argentina went to go for the lead, they left spaces open, if the game would have been 0 to 0, Argentina would have probably played differently.
