Altho Baros might not score as many goals for Liverpool as he does for Czech Rep, he is still a dangerous player and has set up a lot of goals for Liverpool. A game that sticks out, the 6-0 against West Brom, scored 2 and set up 2.

He will be one of the better players for Liverpool this season.

what you said back about what i said i understand what your saying .... but my point is Owen gave us 6 -7 years of quality ... and although i look to the future i still value the past he has carried us in alot of games ....

prime example 2001 FA cup final --- no owen and arsenal would have won
so he let his contract run down and then left -- am i happy nope can we do anything about nope ... Houllier would never have sold him he would have let him go free ...

about yesterdays game missed it because i was at work ... sounds like old times we played well but sat back and gave up the lead and then pressed but couldnt get a winner .... we'll come good

Well you are certainly entitled your opinion, and I respect the fact that everyone does have a different take on the situation, but for me the way Owen has acted has for the moment overshadowed the joy he has provided for me as a fan. After him coming out in public a month or two back oh so angry that people were getting worried about him not signing a new contract and daring to question his loyalty to the club. My god, what a two faced twat. Maybe when I've cooled off a bit I'll think differently.

It's like this:
You have a best mate. You have known each other for years, hung out together, had some good times. One day your mate comes over, says hello and kicks you in the nuts. At that point are you thinking :

A) Gee, we've had some great laughs over the years.

OR

B) I can't believe that arsehole kicked me in the nuts!

"B" is pretty much where I am with Owen right now. Metaphorically speaking of course. :p

As for the game, yeah like you say it's early, early days.

Diouf's been loaned out to Bolton. Hope he gets some first-team action (tho I prefer Pedersen and Davies myself :p) and comes back a better player. With Benitez hopefully forgiving him.

Garcia Rejects Any Liverpool Move
Barcelona midfielder Luis Garcia has rejected any possible move from Barcelona to Liverpool. There has been growing speculation that Benetiz wants Garcia at Anfield after selling Danny Murphy.

"He has spoken to us and said that he’s happy here at the club where he started his career as a youngster and where he’s always wanted to play," said sporting director Txiki Begiristain.

"No representatives from Liverpool have contacted the player and he’s not come and talked money with us.

"However, we want our players here to be happy and to want to play for Barca. If any of them don’t feel right here, then we’ll try and sort it out."

AND THE NEXT PLAYER JOINING LIVERPOOL WILL BE...

Xabi Alonso or Luis Garcia or Miguel Angel Mista or Juan Pablo Angel or Joey Barton - well, that's if you believe everything you read in the Sunday tabloids anyway!

With Michael Owen signing for Real Madrid just over a week after he said contract negotiations were going very well with Liverpool, the Merseyside giants have been linked with a whole host of new players in today's media.

The Sunday Mirror report that "Liverpool will use the cash from selling Michael Owen to table a bid for Aston Villa striker Juan Pablo Angel".

The Sunday Mirror continues: "New Anfield manager Rafael Benitez tried to sign the Colombian international twice while he was in charge of Spanish champions Valencia. And he is ready to make a third attempt - hopeful a £10million bid will be enough to persuade Villa to sell last year's leading goalscorer. Liverpool's chances hinge on whether Villa boss David O'Leary is successful in his attempts to sign James Beattie, who was not named in Southampton's team at Villa Park today."

The Daily Star however have gone for another Angel - Miguel Angel Mista as Liverpool's next star striker. They report: "Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez is eyeing his third Spanish signing - Valencia striker Miguel Angel Mista - as a direct replacement for Michael Owen.

"And 25-year-old Mista is in a similar situation to Owen's position at Anfield - he has a year left on his contract and has indicated he won't sign a new deal at the Spanish club.

"The Liverpool boss is also keen on Real Sociedad's Xabi Alonso and Barcelona's Luis Garcia."

Another big-selling Sunday tabloid believes Benitez is looking closer to home to bolster his squad. They report: "Liverpool have targeted Manchester City midfielder Joey Barton to replace Danny Murphy. But Murphy's new club Charlton are also chasing the England U-21 star. The Addicks have had a £3m bid rejected and Scouser Barton would rather go to Anfield."

Rumours, rumours, rumours!

Stay tuned to the club's official website for the first confirmationof any transfers that do actually heappen.

dudek could of easily saved defoes shot with his leg. the defense was so crap in the 2nd half, rafa has to start buying players cause the ones we currently have just arent good enough.

im happy with cisse though, he took the goal very well! if that chance dropped to owen what could you see happening next? cause i could totally imagine him skying a chance like that over the bar.

also, did anyone see SWP for man citeh yesterday? shít man, liverpool have to make a bid for him. i feel if rafa's wants him then he's ours but we havent even made an enquiry or ANYTHING. hes pure quality, come on who would you rather have on right mid, finnan or SWP? finnan had a pretty decent game yesterday but Phillips was immense.

any news on Xabi Alonso? its dragging on a bit....

New Deal Joy for City Star

Shaun-Wright Phillips has expressed delight at signing a long-term deal with Manchester City.

The speedy midfielder was one of the few bright lights for The Citizens last term and manager Kevin Keegan had made extending the contract of Wright-Phillips one of his summer priorities.

Reports had emerged that the player could be lured away from Eastlands, but Keegan has headed off the prospect of that happening by handing the midfielder a four-year deal.

Wright-Phillips penned the deal after City's season opener against Fulham and he has admitted it is a relief to have sorted his future.

"I didn't really want to go," he told the club's website. "There was speculation in the papers but the negotiations went the way I wanted them to go and I am really happy I am here for another four years.

"You expect a lot of speculation at a big club like this and it has been happening with other players as well.

"I am happy that the contract has been signed and now I am going to get my head down and concentrate on doing well for City."

Super. Just f*cking super! Real After Alonso, Garcia giving us the finger, SWP signing a new deal, letting Rosicky slip away when he pretty much said he wanted to play for us, missing out on a free Edgar Davids earlier, losing Owen for peanuts by breaking the clubs own "nobody runs their contract down under two years" policy. Three cheers for the Liverpool hierachy! :kader:

Mannn, I'm gonna order the home jersey, I'm just thinking if I should get a name on the back.

I'd get #5 Baros, but he's probably gonna get #10 next season. I'd get #8 Gerrard but I'm not sure if he'll stay, with Owen, Murphy leaving he might want to leave next summer as well

I'll probably get the #9 Cisse then... Or maybe #17 since that's my favorite number, with no name on the back... but that might look a bit stupid :crazyboy:

I like Cisse a lot, but he hasn't won me over enough yet to wear his name on the back :$ But if he scores a hat trick in the next game then (H)

Does anyone have a pic of Cisses jersey on the back?

The pics on Kitbag.com suck because they're just generated with a script that adds letters and numbers to pictures of jerseys.

I'm too lazy for translate this hole sh!t, so find a translator. Anyway it says that Xabi Alonso has signed with Liverpool.

Xabi Alonso, to the Liverpool

The march of the ‘brain ' realist was sung good-bye. Rafa Benítez will have the organizer for which sighed

The Real Society (Real Society hah :D) will announce today the transfer of Xabi Alonso to the Liverpool for a figure that is about the 16 millions. The centrocampista blanquiazul will sign for four seasons with option to a fifth, according to the agreement that its agent, Iñaki Ibáñez, closed the night of Saturday in London with representatives of the English club. Of not arising any setback of last hour, Xabi Alonso could travel today to Liverpool to pass the corresponding medical revision and to be presented as new player ‘net '.

The Liverpool made arrive last offer is, via fax, last weekend and he/she gave to the Real one until today's day like date limit so that he/she gave a definitive answer, since its technician, Rafa Benítez, wants to have Xabi Alonso from week principles to be able to include it in the convocation of the next commitment liguero, before the Manchester City.

Also, in the breast of the English club there is mosqueado a point the ‘' that the entity donostiarra has attempted with the Real Madrid that was interested in the player last month of June auctions. The Liverpool doesn't want that the matter takes a long time more and if the Real one doesn't give today the seen good to the operation it will move away its proposal.

The club ‘txuri urdin ' will hurry its answer until the last moment for if the president from the Real Madrid, Florentine Pérez, decides to go up her offer of 12 millions to satisfy her technician, José Antonio Camacho that, after the ‘frivolité presidential ' of registering another forward, Michael Owen, you/he/she has demanded the recruiting of a pivot and a central one. If Florentine it doesn't move record, Xabi Alonso it will be today of the Liverpool.

To the margin of a reaction of last hour of the Real Madrid, the complexity of the offer presented by the English club, forces to the directing donostiarras to analyze the proposal well before giving the OK to the transfer. The initial figure that the Liverpool will pay is of about 12 millions that, also, he/she will pay to terms. The rest, until arriving at the 16, is in function of some clauses for objectives, as parties played by Xabi Alonso or conquered titles.

In fact, the Real one has already transmitted to the English club their intention of including another clause, similar to the one that allowed the return of Darko Kovacevic after their step for the Juventus. To the entity donostiarra it satisfies him the terms of the proposal ‘net ', but he/she wants to make sure a rough calculation right for if in a future the Liverpool decides to put to Xabi Alonso in the market, for the one that could recover it equaling any offer.

Here is another news of Xabi Alonso from Soccernet

Alonso deal Done

MADRID, Aug 16 (Reuters) - Real Sociedad midfielder Xabi Alonso is on the verge of a move to Liverpool, the Primera Liga club said on Monday.
'The deal is still not done, but it's well on its way to being concluded,' Sociedad coach Jose Mari Amorrortu said. 'We are going to be working without Xabi this week and we will be looking at ways in which the team can adapt without him.

'He has grown up at the club and it is important that a Sociedad player has been presented with a chance like this, but it is not the first time that something like this has happened.'

Spanish media reported Liverpool have made a £12million offer for the highly rated 22-year-old midfielder who has won 11 caps for Spain and is in the squad for this week's friendly international against Venezuela.

Liverpool have already signed two Spanish players since former Valencia coach Rafael Benitez took charge at Anfield.

Malaga defender Josemi joined the club last month and Real Madrid midfielder Antonio Nunez will be signing for the Merseysiders as part of an exchange deal that had striker Michael Owen move to the Bernabeu.

Hope is true we realy need someone like Xabia

we just need a right winger

RUSI

El Merengue Argentino
I don't think he is choosing it as much as it is that Liverpool is offering more money to Sociedad than Madrid. ;)
