Nunez: 'Reds a dream come true'

Antonio Nunez admits the prospect of playing for Liverpool is a 'dream come true' for him.
The Spaniard is set to become a Reds player in a part-exchange deal with Real Madrid for Michael Owen, who is due to be unveiled at a press conference in the Spanish capital at midday.

The 25-year-old was only ever on the fringes of Real's star-studded team and is hoping he gets the chance to show Liverpool fans what he is capable of.

'It is never going to be satisfactory leaving the best team in the world but playing for Liverpool is a dream come true for any player,' Nunez said.

'The deal is almost done. It is only a question of tying up a few details which should be no problem although Real will retain an option to buy me back in the future.

'I've always made a point of following the games in the English league because it is the sort of football that I like to play and now I'm going to be part of it. I hope to adjust to it as quickly as possible,' he told Liverpool's official website.

'Even if Owen hadn't signed for Madrid I already had an offer from Liverpool and I knew that the manager was keen to sign me, which is something to be proud of.

'Last season I found out how hard it would be to play at Real and I know Liverpool will be the same, but I hope to get some more minutes on the pitch.'

so Benitez DID try to sign him before maybe he has
potential:)

Old news ;)

Mista would be an ace signing. I still think Benitez has more than signings (Nunez + Alonso) up his sleeve. He isn't the kind of manager that would leave the club with only 3 strikers.

Of course not.

But Real Madrid is the biggest football club in the world.

And for most the highest peak. (as in the team of their dreams)

Plus he is Spanish.

Mannn, I'm gonna order the home jersey, I'm just thinking if I should get a name on the back.

I'd get #5 Baros, but he's probably gonna get #10 next season. I'd get #8 Gerrard but I'm not sure if he'll stay, with Owen, Murphy leaving he might want to leave next summer as well

I'll probably get the #9 Cisse then... Or maybe #17 since that's my favorite number, with no name on the back... but that might look a bit stupid :crazyboy:

I like Cisse a lot, but he hasn't won me over enough yet to wear his name on the back :$ But if he scores a hat trick in the next game then (H)

Does anyone have a pic of Cisses jersey on the back?

The pics on Kitbag.com suck because they're just generated with a script that adds letters and numbers to pictures of jerseys.

I've got Kewell 7 (H)

i dont usually get names on the back on football tops, infact kewell 7 is the only name ive ever had. i only got it to wind up my mate who is a leeds fan and his favourite player was.... kewell! (6)

I got Gerrard 17 on mine. Was my first name/number too :)

Yep, I know it's now Gerrard 8, but the 17 looks so much better (it's my favourite/lucky number, and my birthdate)

Plus it's classic :mrpimp:

Don't you Liverpool fans feel a bit 'bumped' on the Madrid deal?

I mean 8 Million euros, ok fine, but the guy you got signed for them in 2001 and only made his debut not long ago. He's a fringe player and of all the Madrid games i've seen, he hasnt figured at all. I don't think I've hardly ever seen him on the bench?

Wouldnt you'd of thought that you guys would of asked for say (i know he's good) Solari. He'd of been a great addition. Or Portillo. Someone like that? I mean after all they did get Owen who's a favourite at Anfield.

Xavi will be a great signing, donno what he'll think of England when he gets here (lol!) but yeah he'll be good im sure. Good signing, I like to see more well-known players in the Premiership (H)

I think it's about time Liverpool have a good season, I think Cisse will take a few games to adapt but yea, should be ok.

Real Sociedad and Liverpool Football Club have arrived this morning at a principle of agreement for the transfer of Xabi Alonso to the historical English club.

While the final documents are prepared, the player "tolosarra" will reaffirm his approval to his previous agreement to transfer and he will be go to the club/signature in the next hours.

The conversations initiated in the last days between the three parties have been with this understanding, and will be authenticated with the agreement between Xabi Alonso and Liverpool FC.

Real Sociedad want to emphasize the climate of seriousness, transparency and vision of future that has presided over the relations established between the three parties and that have ended in this principle in agreement.

that we don't have the fee, the fee,
But one day we'd like him on a free,

Tell Señor Ayala
We may have Carra, la
But we'd find a place for ya,

Tell Savvy-ola
To put the champagne on ice
To sign him would be nice,
But we're a bit short of cash now, what with all the Spaniards and everything. :ewan:
