Looks like the Padres have a dilemma with the 5th starting spot on the rotation...

Candidates:
1. Tim Stauffer, 1st-round draft pick from 1 year ago.
2. Justin Germano, AAA-Portland rookie pitcher...started a couple games last season and is one of the top prospects in our organization.
3. Darrel May, aquired lefty from K.C....has much to prove like the others but has experience.

My pick: Tim Stauffer, sounds like we got another Peavy. Peavy came up from AA-Mobile and started his 1st game against none other than the Yankees. I seriously never expected him to turn out to be our Ace years later. Stauffer trows in the mid-90's and has an above-average change up and breaking ball.

The rest of our team is pretty much set up, although I would like to see them improve our bullpen.

Well, seriously, if he can avoid injury, hes gotta be good for at least 15 games with that lineup behind him.

Ahem, but I can never show anything other than venemous hatred towards the yanks, forever and ever, amen :rockman:

Its ok, the inside of the physio rooms all look the same :mrpimp: Hah, ok ill stop being an asshole. Truth is, I thought Drew wouldve stayed close to home, but ah well. Meanwhile, the M's bought the real injury timebomb in Sexson, so the jokes on me.

By the way, im doing fantasy for the first time ever this season. Anyone got any good pointers to get me off the ground, or any rules of thumb? This morning on the radio, a guy said that to be at least good, you should spend an hour or more on research per day :| Is that true?

haha, seems a bit exaggerated. I've got a pretty good understanding of the numbers and stuff but you should look at some mock drafts to get a pretty good idea of when to draft certain players. Its my first time doing a fantasy league for baseball too so I'll see how I do.

i already did a draft with my friends of miami, so... i know how i'm gonna make the draft.

But buy the last issue of ESPN the magazine or go through internet and look for mock drafts.

I just had mine today, so I'll put up my team. I had the sucky 11th overall pick and took Manny and concentrated on pitching early on. Maybe got too many Brewers

C Estrada - Atlanta
1B Huff - Tampa Bay
2B/1B Utley - Philly
3B Wright - Mets
SS Matsui - Mets
OF Ramirez - Bo Sox
OF Patterson - Cubs
OF Bradley - Dodgers
1B/OF Overbay - Crew
OF Jenkins - Crew
SS Wilson - Pirates
OF Crisp - Indians
SS/2B Upton (late round gamble) - Tampa Bay

SP Schmidt - Giants
SP Sheets - Crew
SP Zito - Oakland
SP Lilly - Toronto
SP Suppan - Cardinals
CL Wagner - Philly
RP Gordon - Yankees
RP/CL? Hawkins - Cubs

I'm not satisfied, but I like most of these players, Wright finished REALLY stong last year and I think my pitching is just absolutely top notch for a 12 team league.

That's a pretty good team, what round did you draft Huff in?

patterson will be a hell of a hitter if he understands that a high fastball doesnt have to be swung at EVERY time

I love weed, don't you? (H)

....eeeeerrrrrrr

Oh, yeah. What I meant was Miguel Cabrera has officially become my favorite MLB player. It's sad, yet joyfull.

My past favorite players:

1st: Mike Piazza (*1993-1997) He got traded from the Dodgers, and that's back when I used to like them. After that trade I have hated them. I became a Padre fan in 1998 when they went to the World Series.

2nd: Nomar Garciaparra (*1997-20005) He became my favorite player when he was the Rookie of the Year and cracked 200 hits.

3rd & Present: Miguel Cabrera (preset) The first time I saw him, he hit that home run in extra innings to win the game. I realized he was my favorite player when he was the first one I bought on my career on the MVP 2005 game.

Why am I tellling you this? :(

Oh yeah, don't you love it? *waits for you to scroll up to the first question I wrote* (H)

...but seriously, it took a lot of balls to change my favorite player. :p

Best baseball player in the major leagues is Ben Sheets. Best player in the minor leagues is Rickie Weeks. What does this mean? The Brewers are going to win the World Series this year. BELIEVE!!!

I remember in ESPN when they talked of how the Brewers are something you can joke about; Rockies however are just way too terrible of a franchise to even mention. I like how the Brewers are looking right now, even though they aren't really threatening at the moment, they are slowly growing. Jose Capellan and Doug Davis anyone?

On a side note, I've became a really neutral baseball fan nowadays. I hate all teams, including the Nationals. Better to analyze without the bias though I must admit.

And ManU2000, I did not forget the baseball draft. Don't leave me out. :)

I suppose there's 2 more spots left, but if someone wants my yahoo password I'll hand them the keys to that team

Haha Nemreitz didn't get a spot. (H) :(

BTW, Jake Peavy is better than Sheets and Green is better than Weeks (I know he's still in the minors...but still)

Seriously who will be the next dominant player after A-Rod? Lets say in about 8 years. Any stud out there that I haven't heard 'bout?
