Holland always has talent, man ... I mean I don't watch much Dutch football any more, but even I can name a few names ... apart from Strootman, Adam Maher is another name for the midfield ... whatever I've seen of Marco van Ginkel has been really impressive, and I expect him to become a top player ... Georginio Wijnaldum is in that category too, and has had more exposure ... Luciano Narsingh is a speedy winger who was unused at the Euros ... you can also include the excluded Ajacieds like Vurnon Anita, Siem de Jong, and Urby too ... Jeffrey Bruma is developing ... Erik Pieters will be back from injury ... and there are also naturalized options like Douglas ... there are more options than you'd think ...

Oh and tits.
I learned from a Dutch guy about some kid called Klassie/y/classy whatever who is supposed to be good. Plays holding midfield. Never seen him play though. Theres also this winger that went Benfica or Porto from Twente who is supposed to great too. Haven't seen him either.

One thing is that they need to find players who can work a lot without the ball as the defenders are awful. Most of them are absolutely useless without the ball. Keeping shape wasn't anywhere to be seen in the Euros so they better find players who are good without the ball. Van Persie and VdV are good offensively without the ball but can't run a lot to defend without it. Van Persie is **** in a Dutch shirt and VdV is too fat. Kuyt as well is good without the ball but he is apalling with it and past it.

Less glory hunting and no more Robben would be good. I think Robben is mentally ill. He is pathologically selfish without any evidence to back it up and is most likely cursed by players who have had play with him.

Netherlands-Belgium, always entertaining ... the 1999 edition is the most memorable friendly I've ever watched, and includes a quite ridiculous goal from the supremely skillful Edgars Davids (H):

2 years later... only 1 of those you mentioned has been picked for the 30-man team for the WC (Wijnaldum). Lot's of young/unknown players though.

What formation did van Gaal use against Equador? Did he play 5-3-2 as he said he would for the world cup?

Being fair to Xifio, Strootman would definitely have made it if not for injury and who knows where Van Ginkel would be if he hadnt been injured all season.

that's the whole point of van Gaal, though: finding youthful solutions that no one else thought were really there ...
no one else, including me ...

he did; it's like a defensive version of his Ajax triple diamond formation, where the wingers have instead been pulled back to play as wingbacks, trying to accommodate for lower defensive quality with higher defensive quantity ... unsurprisingly yielded mixed results ... Janmaat's injury will be a concern ...

Adam Maher deserved a squad place too, only shunted out by a formation change to 3-5-2 where he has no place

^^^ BS. Adam Maher had a very crappy season at PSV, spending half the time on the bench. He didn't deserve to come along.

Really? He was good when I saw in the EL and against Milan where they should/could have gone through :(

amazing planning from the KNVB, with van Gaal laying the foundations with a younger team at Brazil 2014, Hiddink tasked with taking Holland to France 2016, and Danny Blind deputizing till he takes over the main role for the Russia 2018 campaign ...

Where would Robben fit in that formation? Striker? Certainly not wing back.

I've been impressed by Clasie's pass to van Persie. In that compilation he looks like a really great prospect.

Looks like a Scholes.
