Just occurred to me that Van der Wiel wasn't even selected for the 30 man squad, was he that bad for PSG this season?

yeah, van der Wiel had to pull out due to injury after being named in the squad ... the real shock is Dirk Kuyt; he shouldn't have been selected for the national team even in his "prime" (relatively speaking), but his inclusion now is a joke ...

For some reason, Netherlands didn't produce world class players during last couple of years ... new formation is more defensive than their traditional 4-3-3, I give to van Gaal, they don't have great midfielders and defenders this year ...

Yes Vlaar as a starting CB tells a lot.

Midfield is not bad but nowhere in quality to what we are used to.

EDIT: Currently watching team van Gaal now. Not a bad game. Did RvP sub out because of a knock?
