Scolari should bet on Hugo Almeida really, he's clearly our striker for the future.

Tiago played well as Quim did, shame Ricardo will start in the World cup no matter what.

FT Portugal-3 Latvia-0 (Pauleta-2, Hugo Viana)

We played far better tonight. You can see Deco´s influence on the team. Our midfield was very sharp and I saw alot of great plays. Even so we should focus on the finishing. It was 3-0 but it could have been many more. Deco and Figo were excellent. Ronaldo is experiencing a bad phase, i hope he recovers his form. I was also impressed with Tiago. He worked extremely hard and was also one of the figures of the team. It was only against Latvia but i think that our performance was convincing. With Quim on Goal and Pauleta in better shape, we can do a good campaign in Germany. Now schedule some decent friendlies and give a chance to Moutinho, Manuel Fernandes or any upcoming talents that will appear this year. I would love it if Hugo Almeida had more chances in Porto and Portugal. It´s up to the coaches.

Moutinho, Manuel Fernades, Quaresma, Hugo Almeida, and Moreira are some of the names I'd like to see make it into the team. Hopefully Scolari will try them out in the friendly matches.

Manuel Fernandes is clearly a A team player, and so is Joao Moutinho (but he is in bad shape right now). Moreira has Quim and Ricardo (ugh) in his way. Quaresma needs to gain more consistency. Hugo Almeida shows he is a great striker (that bicycle kick yesterday should have bem goal...), but I think he needs to be more mature.

Very nice display tonight :jap:

With Deco on the team the "music" is really different, and I leave a word of appreciation for Figo's work today, he was simply outstanding for what I've seen.

Do you watch Dinamo games? If you don't then how do you know if Frechaut has been playing good or not. I judge Scolari based on facts. One fact in particular is that we qualified for the WC06 undefeated.

(Y) For calling up a new keeper.

i watch the Liga games and i see better options than Frechaut and i read papers and i see that Frechaut isn't even a regular line up player in Russia.

Personally, Abel >> Frechaut.

Meh it's only for a friendly or two.

I don't think anyone expected Scolari to call Baía at this stage, even with Quim (and Moreira) injured so no surprise to see Paulo Santos there. It would be suicide to call Baía actually, if he played well then everbody would ask Scolari why wasn't he called before and it would put him in an unconfortable position.

Good point. I just get upset at all the Scolari bashing. The guy has given us results and still we complain like women because our favorite players weren't called. Let the guy call whomever he decides is best. The starting lineups are always great. Well, except for the guy wearing the number 1. :(

Well i don´t have anything original to say about this call up, i think we already said everything. It´s also pointless to give names and alternatives, it´s pretty obvious that he doesn´t watch any games or players. The call up of Paulo Santos was expected because of the publicity of Braga´s campaign, even a blind man would call him.

Scolari should go back t Brazil where he was atleast halfway sucsessful, hes made an absolute cock up of the job of Portugal N.T coach. :kader:

I thought he wasn't calling up Baia because of his age... but Paulo Santos is 32 or 33 :|

Frechaut's call up is just sad.
