This is my big point and I'm taking away all of the snarkiness that's been used in this thread; something changed since the summer of 2005, and it is beyond anything you see on the field. It has to be because the team is not drastically changed and the manager is the same. The only thing that is drastically different between the end of the 2004/2005 campaign and the end of the 2006/2007 campaign is the ownership, and it is naive to think it played no part. It is far beyond "Rooney and Ronaldo got better". Two players cannot win the EPL, especially considering many of your other position players are worse now than they were 2 years ago. And yet you are now a rising club, whereas in May of 2005 you were at the bottom of a significant decline.
WUM 0/10
LOL Jesus lord you're not doing the rest of the world's interpretations of Americans' IQ any favors here. Glazer has done NOTHING to help us win the title, get it through your thick, patriotic ******* skull. I get on my knees and pray that you're really not that dense.
You say it can't be because of Rooney and Ronaldo getting better??? You say many of our other position players are worse now than they were 2 years ago? You've just shown that you know NOTHING about this team. You're not fit to make any comments about our club, because you know Carlos **** about it. The more you talk, the more stupid you sound so I suggest for your sake you shut the hell up, and soon.
FIRST OF ALL. Ronaldo and Rooney. Ronaldo has improved about 200% since he first came here. To give you any indication of the kind of season he's had, he has 23 goals and 20 assists this season, 17 of those goals in the EPL. FROM MIDFIELD. He has all but eliminated his diving(except for about 3 isolated incidents), his use of the ball and his teamates has improved DRASTICALLY...AND he has license to roam the pitch, instead of being stuck on the right wing. He has dragged this team to MANY victories/draws/key goals this season (Fulham away, Aston Villa away, Wigan at Home, Reading away, was instumental in getting that Roma away goal, delivered the freekick that lead to O'Shea scoring against Liverpool etc etc etc) These are ALL moments where we would've lost/dropped points in the past, but we didn't this season and that's because of him.
Rooney. Almost identical scoring and assist record. 23 goals, 16 assists. Like Ronaldo, he's come up TRUMPS at KEY moments this season. (single handedly dragged us to victory against Sheff Utd away. Single handedly destroyed Bolton away) To say that it couldn't have been because of them makes you sound STUPID.
SECOND OF ALL. The old heads coming up trumps. Paul Scholes, absolutely ESSENTIAL to us winning. Without him in midfield we were not winning this title, PERIOD. Notice he missed a LOT of last season when we did NOT win the league. Giggs, absolutely blinding season. Gary Neville, brilliant season where he spent most of his time charging forward into the opposition half.
THIRD, the new guys coming up big. Vidic, Evra, Carrick all had monster seasons. Vidic has been an absolute ROCK in the center of defense and has complemented Rio's style PERFECTLY. Not to mention he's scored some key goals from set pieces. Evra is barely recognizable from the shakey guy from January. His pace, technical ability and constant charges forward have been key to our attacking style.
You know what, lemme simplify it for you before this post becomes to long. We have won the title because of these reasons:
1)Ronaldo blossoming into a genuine, unselfish world class player.
2)Rooney's continued improvement and clutch performances.
3)Scholes' return
4)Our attacking style being completely unplayable. When Sir Alex benched Ruud, he noticed our team's attacking style went up 100%. We played quicker, more technical attacking football without him, so we sold him and never looked back. Teams couldn't stop us this season because our style is unplayable. Ronaldo doesn't stay on the wing, the fullbacks overlap, Saha is all over the place, Scholes and Carrick take turns charging forward, Rooney drops back deep to pick up the ball....Teams could've been able to stop us in previous seasons because we were predictable. Now we're not.
5)Squad players like Park, Brown, O'Shea, Ole, Smith playing well when we needed them most.
6) The drastic improvement of Vidic and Evra
7)Carrick's composure and passing in the middle.
All this has NOTHING to do with Glazer.
