This should be a pretty entertaining game, both sides have a lot of pace, skill and individual brilliance. I hear Mexican fans have swamped Germany, and there's a huge Iranian community living in the country so the atmosphere should be lively.
The Mexicans have a bit of history behind them and have produced some great results in the past but tend to choke when expected to do well. If they perform as good as they did in the confederations cup last year then it'll be hard to bet against them in this match.
Iran like most Asian sides are very unpredictable, but are coming to Germany with the best team they've ever fielded in any world cup, they were struggling at the beginning of their WC qualifying campaign and recalled a few senior and retired players like Khodadad Azizi who most will remember scored the equalizer against Australia that sent Iran to the 1998 world cup. But they have a few young and exceptional players who have some experience playing for top clubs in Germany, such as Ali Karimi, Vahid Hashemian, and Mehdi Mehdavikia. And of course Ali Daei is still around, as is Hussein Kaabi a promising youngster in defence.
I'm tipping them to do some big things in this group, and this is probably the best chance they'll have for a long time to impress on the big stage, because they're expecting quite a few players to hang up their boots after this world cup.
I think it'll either be a draw or Iran just edge out Mexico but who knows.
