I'm as neutral as you can get with this match and other than Ballack not getting a yellow for that dive in the box I can't say that Michel was leaning one way or the other in this match. Probably the best reffed match of the WC so far.

i'm a neutral here too, i just hope we can do a good match against the brazilians, but the refs are in a downward spiral ever since '02

Germany were merciless taking the penalties, you'd think they spent this whole week just doing PK drills. Obviously I'm ecstatic that Germany are through, but Argentina showed some glimpses of brilliance in the extra period to show why they're the form team of this tournament.
The famed German character and resolve is what kept them in this game, along with Argentina sitting on their 1 goal advantage and drawing the Germans into their territory. In the end an unfavourable circumstance with Argentina losing their no.1 keeper and Pekerman's tactical blunders are what cost them the game. With no Crespo, Requelme, Saviola, or Messi, the Germans knew they had the upper hand and were comfortable running time down at the end.
No doubt the Germans aren't the only ones relieved to see Argentina bow out, the Argies have had an edge over quite a few of the major contenders such as the English and the Brazilians and were the major threat to them.
I'm sure this is gonna be repeated over and over again on tomorrow's paper headlines but Pekerman really did make a 'messi' of it.

you have to give credit for Klinsmann for transforming this Germany team. He has faith with young players and knows when to make the subs, like Odonkor, Neuville and Borowski.

I was most impressed with the quality of Germany's penalty kicks. All the players who took penalties looked very confident and knew where they wanted to put the ball. I wonder if England can do the same. For the past few tournaments they've been pretty bad at it.

yea, and i believe, klinsmann has an american wife?

anyways, congratulations to germany, tough luck for argentina.

i think for the most part, the ref did a good job.

klinsmann has really done wonders, and i get excited the more and more i see this germany team play, and that's something that has never happened before. he has really done wonders for that team, and i like seeing him excited and jumping and waving his arms, showing enthusiasm and emotions. i remember, leading up to the world cup, a german poll said 30% of the voters though they could make it to the semi-final, and there was a lot of disappointment and pessimism. (i was in austria the week before the world cup, and a lot of germans and germany fans were not that hopeful at all.)

there have been talks about the u.s. soccer federation maybe being interested in klinsmann, and i think he'd be a good fit for us.

but good luck to germany.

(and that scene kahn and lehmann is the moment of the world cup for me. that's what the world cup is about)

EDIT: and argentina women are beautiful.
