If it goes to penalties Italy doesnt stand a chance of winning.
Even with Buffon being one of the best keepers if not the best keeper in the world right now, the Germans just always have the right mindset for penalties.

the talk of all italians do is play defensive is rubbish. hence the score the last time italy played GERMANIA.
we use it when it is most feasible and it is a talent gifted to italians so please tell me why not use it, being as effective as it is.

Classic game. The most potent strike force in the tournament takes on its best defence. Italy have traditionally had the upper hand over the Germans, and had a convincing win against them in a friendly before the WC, they also remain undefeated in 23 straight games. On the other hand the Italians have been knocked out by the hosts in their last 2 World Cups (Korea & France), and Germany come into this game carrying alot of momentum having overcome arguably the best team in the competetion.

The Italians will probably play a very similar game to what Argentina did but they don't possess the kind of talent upfront that the Argentineans do. One can also question the quality of the teams which Italy have had to face so far, Germany are sure to test the Italian 'wall' much more than those other teams did. If its still a stalemate by halftime then I think we will see Italy push forward in much greater numbers, one thing they definately don't want to happen is for the match to go down to penalties. But if Germany can grab the first goal then I would strongly back them to win, either in normal time or through penalties once again.

vs. Ghana - great all around performance resulting in 2-0 win
vs. USA - poor, couldn't score against nine men, ended in a 1-1 tie
vs. Czech Republic - once again a great performance and another 2-0 win
vs. Australia - poor performance, were lucky to win 1-0 on a late penalty
vs. Ukraine - pretty much flawless (great) in a 3-0 win

If the pattern continues the Germans should have no problem
...but it won't. I originially predicted Germany to win this game but I'm having second thoughts. I think the Italians will play two great halves of cattenacio and score on a counter attack and it will be all over.

then to last almost an entire half with 10 men, that's no fluke
australia never even looked like scoring, only a few lucky shots from chipperfield which were easily saved
and don't be fooled by the posession stat, italy just loved australia holding the ball, then stepped in just taking the ball backwhen australia worked close to the box

Torsten Frings has been suspended for tomorrow's game against Italy and will be able to play in Final/Game for Third Place.

Stat wise, you are correct... The problem is though when you watch the game, as I have watched pretty much all games this WC, you will noitce the sloppiness of the German defense. Their passes, clearing the ball, offside trap and just plain movement of the players back their is disorganized. Don't get me wrong, the German team has been fantastic, but if that D doesn't get their act together then Italy will put a few in on counter attacks.

There a large concentration of Italians in Germany as well due to the vicinity that Germany is to Italy and the fact that my brother is there and says there is, lol... Either way, there's obviously no way we will be able to match the voices of the German fans but will have to cope with it in order to move on to the finals.
